rubber hitting the road

After watching a lot of games today:
1. We need a Carson/Ivey!!!! chip on shoulder, mean and driven and driving the lane!!!!
2. We need a banger under the rim, both on offense and on defense
3. Loyer will not take us to a FF
Just catching some of Colorado State I’d take Clifford in a second

1. Yes, need someone from the portal
2. TKR can do it on offense and need a rim protector alongside him
3. Loyer is a great 4th option (see last year).

Loyer is like Lee Humphrey from Florida in their back to back NC wins. Amazing 3 pt shooter but not one of the top 3 scorers. Lance, Braden and Edey were our top. 3 last year and Loyer was great when needed.

The less Loyer has to create his own shot and the more defenses have to worry about other threats the better. He’s a fantastic threat if he can get open looks.

Loyer as a microwave off the bench would absolutely be a total weapon. Someone who comes in firing. Someone who's total focus is go out there and stretch the defense with your shot.

Loyer as a starter involves defensive tradeoffs and other issues.

didn't Paint make a starter come off the bench before ? maybe Trevion ?
Trevion is the best example because he started so many games and was a hm AA, but there have been a bunch of examples of former starters coming off the bench under MP.

Loyer is likely to start next year because his offensive impact is much greater than what most here realize, not because Matt is somehow stubborn or loyal.

Loyer doesn't have to take us to a Final Four. But he can be a valuable piece.

Didn’t Tre go to the bench cuz of edey? I feel if we have a player of similar to edey’s impact, then yes, by all means replace Loyer as a starter (but I don’t think we do right now). If we get one in the portal though….

You’d really need two guards / wings from the portal who are very high level because Braden is the only one on the roster now who will be above Fletcher for one of the three guard / wing spots.

If he comes in and just shoots. no hesitation, no looking to pass ... just shoot the ball
He needs a Ryan Cline infusion where if he is remotely open he’s going to shoot it.

I posted this on the other board, in the five games before the Michigan game Fletch shot 54% from three, 63% from two and 85% from the line. During the 'skid' starting with the second UM game and prior to the third, Loyer averaged 15 on 51% from three, 56% from two and 87% from the line.

He’s ridiculously efficient and is likely to continue to improve (at least marginally). It would be great to see him develop a quicker trigger.
