First, what does it have to do with "lawmakers"? Shouldn't they have inflation and baby formula to worry about?
Second, if the rule back in 1969 was that made baskets at any distance (outside of FTs) was worth 2 points, but now that shots farther than a certain distance are worth 3 points, can we retroactively change the scoring of Rick Mount and change the outcome of games? If not, then how come the rule in 2010 that aO$U broke, can now retroactively "un-break" ?
