Recruiting Weekend

I'm not that worried about how they fit as I doubt we sign more than half of the recruits that visit. It's not a matter of the recruits not liking or wanting Purdue. it's more a matter of Purdue is at a point where they can be more selective. I know of at least 4 wide receivers who will be visiting in the next 3 weeks. I have to believe Brohm only wants to sign 1 more WR. the same applies to DB. Brohm only wants one more, and that person is Williams. I believe Brohm wants to add 1-2 offensive lineman and 1-2 defensive lineman. and maybe 1 running back and 1 tight end. And I see names of recruits coming the next three weeks at those positions. That would be a maximum of 8 additional players added , but a likelihood of 6. And I think that's doable within our scholarship structure and openings.

I've talked a lot about Potts, and he has a lot of talent. But if Purdue lands Williams, I doubt there would be any additional interest in pursuing Potts or any other DB.. I believe that may have been why White went to Cincy. Brohm wanted him to play safety, but he liked Jallow more than he liked White.

A difference I've noticed in Brohm is rather than just signing somebody because they are a 3 star, Brohm first evaluated our needs and talent before just giving out a bunch of scholarships. Hazell had a bad tendency to see an athlete and then stock up at 1-2 positions, and not address his holes/needs. Under Hazell, Purdue had a bunch of quality running backs who never saw a chance to play. The same was true about Dbs. How many did we really need?

I'm hoping Brohm can gain commitments from Williams and Harris. I'm not sold we need another WR or TE. I'd like to see Brohm take a flyer on the grad transfer OL from Florida or USC. I'd like to see Brohm bring DE Sharpe to Purdue.

And I'm confident there are about 50 new names that will appear in the next three weeks. I never knew of Osuwa, Payton or Wright before this week. maybe a new name will surface like the kid who is leaving Notre Dame, or the 4 decommitts from Minn. My hope is Brohm leaves one scholarship open just in case.

Just speculation but Hudson probably met w/Brohm this morning and was asked if he would consider a greyshirt, which would free up another schollie. The kid naturally balked as would any 3*. Its obvious Brohm is loading up with skill players in his first year. He probably thinks he can get decent JUCO O lineman in hist first yr that can contribute next year versus a project 3 yrs down the road. Win now baby!

Hudson may not be the type of lineman brohm wants. Hudson appears better suited for what Malone did than what brohm will do

I saw one rating service list Hudson at 6'9". I know we recruited guys that height before to PU (Kyle Ingraham) but he was a receiver. Leverage/technique is problematic at that height for a tackle.

Tim Lester now HC at WMU will probably get him now and prove me wrong.......
