I knew that Morgan Burke had tight purse strings on the Athletic Department budget, but didn't realize how tight it really was.

Things that I pondered over the last several seasons:
  • Makes me appreciate what Tiller did at Purdue even more.
  • Wonder why Hope wasn't supported more to meet AD's goals?
  • Why Hazell was thrown some additional funds on a wing and a prayer with minimal support to get and retain good assistant coaches. I believe Hazell caused some of his own demise in not getting great assistants out of the gate and working to retain them.
Getting lights for night games will help bring larger crowds as people will want Saturday night main event activity. Creating an atmosphere to enjoy and be entertained will be vital to all future success. Believe that Brohm and Staff are good and can be entertaining. Can they get continued support to grow or will the seed be planted and never watered?
Hope that some nostalgic things might be brought back and new things implemented.
  • Bring back the Howitzer for the ROTC's. Loud noise on scores are exciting. OLD
  • Get Loud Train Horns in all 4 sides of the stadium to compliment the Howitzer scores. NEW
  • Believe there is a team walk from "X" spot. Is that spot at Slayter Hill with our Band sending them off? Or hire Regionally very good bands playing some kick butt music for hundreds or thousands of fans, then sending off the team as in a pre-game pep rally, then play a post game set if they are afternoon games. ENTERTAIN...OLD & NEW concept.
  • Fire up the jet for recruits. Large gray area...charter the plane from designated locations where alumni will want to pay for a seat or two, yet be able to get players on the flight. Charter flights are public not private. Do the same thing for the Team bus. Charter it from Indy or Chicago every home game weekend allowing 1/2 of the bus as paid passengers and the other half as potential recruits. Keep operating in that area till rules would change. NEW
  • Unused tickets get issued to local high school students at will call windows day of game. Show your school ID and get a ticket. NEW Get future potential students looking at your University.
Those are my random thoughts. Purdue must think out of the box to get back to being fun and entertaining along with new talented recruits that want to come to Purdue and forego a Minnesota, Northwestern, Illinois or I.U. and someday forego Ohio State, Michigan or ND where they would be vying for playing time or bench time.
It takes time, but needs both seed, water, and smarts to cultivate a new crop.

By the way, the NCAA chartered some of their own flights to the 2017 baseball Regionals. If they can do it, then so can Purdue.

Was Travis able to assure everyone that Captain Morgan's proposed tertiary mascots have been sh!t-canned??

Mike Berghoff (BOT President) is the one driving the bus on increased financial investment in football. He was a former walk on football player at Purdue.

Investment started shortly after Berghoff become BOT president.....a couple years ago. And Berghoff's not done yet with increasing investment.

Bobinski's role so far has been to hire a football coach......and tell BOT/Berghoff what is needed in terms of increased support personnel.

Imo Bobinski did an outstanding job with the football hire. I'm a big fan of Brohm hire.

I hope to be a big fan of the Brohm hire also but am waiting to see some production first after drinking all of the kool aid at the Haze hiring.
