Question on Cutting the Cable!!

So, i finally got my wife convinced she can watch almost everything she needs online. I got a couple questions/issues.

1. Can you buy big ten network without having cable?

2. Is there another service, besides the pay sites like Hulu plus or Amazon Stick, that you can use, or is it better to pay for one of the services that consolidate for you?

3. I have an one Wii, that has Hula Plus, do other game consoles have that too? our kids Wii stopped working, they are getting a new one for Xmas, so we can use the old wii....but do other ones work too?

4. Last question, is bootlegging ESPN really worth it, or should I try something else?

5. Anything I am missing?

One other question...are there major cable channels that do not let you watch their shows..even a week late...like discovery, history or travel?

I'll help where I can:

1. You can get the BTN plus sub but the games are usually readily available on the net.

2. I use USTVNow. It's designed to broadcast for troops overseas, but any schmo can use it. The free version has lower quality, but really it's not that bad.

3. Yeah I would think Xbox would be a better solution but I would research it .. myself I spent 100 bucks and got an android device as I wanted to run XBMC on it. There are SO many choices out there now, you'll really need to research and see what works for you (Sorry not a good answer).

4. Actually, you can watch a lot of ESPN without bootlegging anymore. Especially ESPN3

5. It's hard to say. You'll need some sort of device to stream your stuff. It all just depends how in-depth you want to get.

Sorry that is more of what I meant. You can watch it by logging in with your provider and is more supported on devices than it has been in the past.

Not sure what your motivation is for wanting to "cut the cable." If it's cost - I have xfinity internet through Comcast for $19.99/month. This is a promo price good for 1 year but if you call back a few days before the promo ends, they will re-up you for another year at that price. I also have Directv for $65/month. This includes $35 in credits they gave me just by me calling them up and asking what sort of deals they could provide to lower my monthly bill. Again, these credits are only good for 1 year so you have to set a reminder on your calendar to call back to continue to get these. The gal I spoke with threw in Showtime for 4 months at no charge. She also threw in new Jeannie receivers including a new dish.

So for less than $85/month I have satellite tv including new receivers, dish, and Showtime and internet. I have to call back once a year to continue to receive this pricing though. Not a big deal.

We do something similar with our satellite radio. We pay $30 for a 6 month "trial" period - $5/month. We call back every 6 months and they give us the same deal each time.

I also just received a $24/monthly credit from AT&T for our cell phones...and a 1 time $400 credit for no apparent reason.

That would be nice...but i live in northwestern Montana...we have two cable options and satelite. My wife works from home so I have to keep DSL. So, I am paying almost $200 a month for it all.
