Question for the conservatives?

I have always been a conservative (grew up during Reagan after Carter almost put my dad out of a job).

is there anyone on the board that was once a liberal that became a conservative after having kids or retiring? I have heard many do it, but was wondering what broke/breaks the “camels back” and caused you to pull the red lever (vote R)?

I assume it’s a “too progressive agenda”…but I wonder when does one start to see liberals/progressives as too progressive.

I had an exchange with a liberal back in 2016 who supported Bernie Sanders. His comment was that he supported Sanders and his push to eliminate student debt. I asked if he paid for his education which he acknowledged.

The Bernie supporter then stated he never expected Sanders to eliminate debt (he even indicated that it would be “impossible” for that to happen), he just like his views including reducing the cost of college. I wonder how the individual feels today knowing Manchin and Sinema are the only thing standing in the way of free college. What does that say to all of the blue collar workers in the US that elected not to go to college due to the cost.

Free college is nothing more than a white collar bailout. And it rewards greedy educators and lenders who duped students into bad loans and agreements in the first place.

I don't know anyone personally who has converted, but I know a lot of people that have become more conservative with age.

Everyone is conservative about things they know and love, it's just a matter of when progressivism ruins those things that they can no longer keep themselves deluded.

Just about my whole family used to be Dems in their youth. In my youth I never thought about politics much, Dad was a Dem, & college enviro., but then Reagan was a guy that convinced me though. Now I am a conservative with libertarian leanings.

The Dem focus on killing babies turned alot of the Christians in my family though.

Open boarders would work and no policing would be necessary if our country would stop the care packages once they cross over. Immigrants will no longer receive food, shelter, medical care, schooling, clothing for just walking in the country and say here we are take care of us.
