Lucky enough that Purdue sent over 100 free tickets to the Tippecanoe School Corporation to use tonight and was able to snag three of them...I'll be taking my 3 and 4 year old sons to their first Purdue basketball game (took them to the spring game the last two years). The younger one is totally bought in to watching sports with me already but the older one enjoys just sitting next to me and playing a game on his iPad instead. Either way, I'm really excited about finally getting a chance to take my sons to Mackey in the way my father once did with me!

Hope you are right with the prediction. TS only lost to Texas by one point so this will be an interesting game to see where we stand compared to Texas.

I don't think it will be anything we can use to compare against Texas. My reasoning behind that is there have been so many upsets this year and I am betting Texas took TS a little too lightly and it nearly bit them. We've done that with teams before where if we played them 10 times, 9 of those would result in a blowout.

We just need to come out prepared like we did against Butler and play with some intensity and take them out of the game early.

I expect we'll be hearing an extra "MOVE!" or two tonight, then. Enjoy the game with your sons, JDB.....hope they have a great experience.

I wish I could yell! I have tons of students who attend the games and I'd rather not be the public school teacher who gets recognized for yelling! Plus, the want to run for public office in the future also sort of keeps me much more restrained when watching a game in public (I don't want a grainy video of me yelling and screaming at young people to pop up 'anonymously' from my opponent!).....at home that's a different question and the remote is usually stored in a safe area.

I agree that It is hard to judge teams by comparative scores but it is one of the few things fans can do to evaluate their team relative to others. Match-ups, timing of the games in the schedule, and many other factors are involved.

If we are ready to play, we should win handily. If we only win by one point, there will be a mini-meltdown here. If we would lose......Yikes.

Texas is incredibly limited offensively and the times I have watched them they really seem to struggled with the concepts that Shaka is teaching along with finding a rhythm on the offensive end. Bamba is a great talent but just doesn't appear to have the horses around him to have Texas be a really good team consistently. Likely a similar end to what we saw with LSU when they had Ben Simmons.

Back in September I gave my granddaughter the choice between a Boiler FB or BB game. She chose BB so we're meeting her and our youngest son for the Nebraska game on 1/6. First time in Mackey for either of them.

Well now - NC didn't come out well against .... wait for it .... WOFFORD

a 2.6% chance to win ... won
Wofford is traditionally known as a halfway decent program though. Between 2009 and 2015, Wofford won an average of 21 games and made the NCAA's in 2010, 2011, 2014, and 2015. They aren't a terrible program...probably one of the better programs in the second range of the G5 conferences.

C'mon man - it was AT NC .... and they were a 2.6 chance to win ...

This was the first game I took my son to:
1992 - Against a team that would eventually reach the Final Four, Purdue, who only finished 18-15 and reached the Elite 8 of the NIT, reverses a 41 point loss in Bloomington by winning in West Lafayette 61-59 on Senior Day.

The students rushed the floor ...and crammed it full ...

Not saying it isn't a monumental upset.....their four appearances in the NCAA's have been against 2-4 seeds and have played them very tough each time. They are similar to Northern Iowa in that they seem to have a pretty good team every 3 to 4 years when they have a litany of seniors on their team.

I think this is going to show that the one and done era is starting to catch up to the bigger programs because these smaller programs and other big programs who haven't bought in to that notion are going to be damn good every 3 to 4 years and because of that cycle....there are going to be years like this where the top programs just aren't that much better than any one else...unlike last year where lots of teams appeared to be young (ASU/MSU for example) and used that experience to help them in a year like this one.

1st time for a Tennessee St vs PU matchup..............

Cliz had a trivia question just now.............Nashville has 4 division 1 programs, name them!

Belmont, Lipscomb, Tennessee St, and Vandy..........wow
