Good effort by Hunter on the drive. But needs to bury that...
I guess Trevion Williams didn't have a foul before the BO technical. Two on JI, ZE, and TW. Boilers up 37-26 - playing better on the defensive end. Need to maintain the energy/intensity in the second half.
Sure looked questionable at least.
There's playing tough, & there's playing borderline.. Illinois flirting w the latter a few times that half.

Anyone questioning Painter's coaching only needs to look at Newman the past 2 games...
That call on Ivey was dead wrong. Frazier did a hook and hold, pulling Ivey. Senior player trick on sophomore I guess, but the refs got to catch those.
I can only watch via ESP gamecast, but I like the scoring and good to see Newman in it!
Hunter just looks to do anything but score. It’s why he always looks unready to shoot and has no confidence on layups. Needs to “look to get his” within the offense and with a bunch of stars on the floor. Hope he can figure it out.
Best perimeter D of the year. Gotta keep it up. Sasha needs to hit a three in second half and Purdue needs to handle press that will come if they maintain lead.
Not sure what Hunter looking to get his looks like, but its probably pretty scary.
Hunter should have made that, but Why doesn’t painter ever call an end of half TO set up a play? And if you’re going to use a guard to go end to end, why not Ivey? I get he doesn’t want to get a cheap 3 rd pf, but Ivey would force the D to play differently and give you a better chance at points.
Freshman Hunter would have made that and told Kofi about it.
Frazier held Jadens arm
A quick whistle would have given Mason the foul instead of Zach. Foul should have been on Frazier grabbing Jadens arm instead of Jaden shaking Frazier away. No reason to foul Kofi on baseline hook with 5 seconds to go by Trevion...and Eric make that layup
Zach needs help by actually making open shots when they do happen behind the arc. Does Zach wall up for two drives by Jaden this half. Trevion needs to challenge Kofi when he is in there. Make that first step deep to get better position on Kofi and can backdoor on Payne. Purdue needs that second head of the monster to contribute more
