Purdue rides defense to win at Minnesota (link)

Can get the double-bye with a win Sunday and a little help ....

The jury has been out on this team all year, but, no matter how much angst you feel about Purdue no longer being on the national scene, they are trending upward. A big win on Senior Day against a tough NW team will prob give them a double bye and a crack at Indiana again. All the stats say they will wind up in the NIT unless they can beat OSU or Md, but who knows. One thing in undeniable--they are playing their best ball now and do lead the BT in defense, which is nothing to snuff at. Versyp will be our coach next year, by the way. Morissette had become really good and the move to starting Harris was a good one. Perry has really played well yesterday and really wants to win. Plus they are very much playing as a team. If they could shoot better and had another good big, they might be even better, but they don't. Hoping they do well in the BTT and whereever they play post season.

Who would have thought when this team was 1-3 at Thanksgiving or 9-6 on New Years (after losing to IUPUI and the Wildcats) that we would be approaching 19 wins and 4th place in the B1G? And that we would have the best scoring defense in the B1G? I know people have problems with Versyp's recruiting but her frosh this year have turned out pretty well. Harris will be a star by her upperclassmen years.

Seems odd we could be 4th in the B1G and still be playing in the NIT. Damn that Maine tournament and Perry having a concussion during the Ohio State game. Oh well, they are fun to watch right now and I hope they will be a pleasure to follow in Indy this next week regardless of our seeding.

Have to hand it to them. Even though they dug a huge hole that they will probably not be able to get out of they haven't stopped trying. None of us saw a top 4 conference finish after the first week of the season.
