Always amazes me that adult men will tweet/reply to player post. Do you really think they care what you think? Will Carson Edwards really decide not to transfer because Boilerzz sends him an encouraging tweet? For all you GBI posters that tweet players/recruits, what are you hoping to accomplish? Your doing more harm than good. Grow up!!

did someone really tweet carsen about him transferring?? I thought someone said this was all just a made up rumor

If this in reference to BoilerZZ reply to Carsen it is being blown out of proportion.

He said he can't wait he and the team do next year.

If that really gets people riled up can't imagine what you think about people relying to the team year end tweet with their congrats and encouragement.

Thanks, internet dad/referee/police. Now we know the rules of social media.

No one respond to our players on Twitter! We should all the know the true fans don't do that, only the crazy ones at IU, Kentucky, Kansas, North Carolina, Michigan, Illinois, Ohio State, Baylor, Florida, Memphis, UCLA, Nova, etc........:)

I believe that's the tweet in question.

Maybe it is an acronym? Perhaps it is cryptic message that only keen Purdue fans can decode with Anne's secret decoder pin?

The fact that others do it doesn't make it less sad and pathetic for any of our fans to do it. Unfortunately that's a losing battle.

Of course, a small number of the "Purdue Fans" on this board may actually be trolls with little interest in promoting and improving the Purdue team. Such trolls revel in creating some sort of "impact" on the world they know by spreading misinformation, or encouraging the growth of problems.

Why would you think it's sad and pathetic? Twitter's original intent was to encourage social interaction (from what I've read, much like Facebook). Sports are about teams (coaches/players, etc) but also about fans. If no one cared about the teams and players playing, it almost certainly would not be as exciting for them. If those players and teams weren't playing, it would be one less exciting event(s) in our lives. It's give-and-take.

Private or Public ? its that simple if a player wants to interact with the fans . If a player tweets on a public account he is inviting fans to comment . I encourage fans to show their support . If a player puts out a tweet on his public account and no one responds he will be reluctant to waste his time . I'm not sure how many of you realize this . As for some that disparage this interaction you are misinformed . I receive info thru direct messaging that I keep private no matter what the content . Its simple if a player or anyone connected to a player wants a conversation to be private they do so thru direct messaging . You can only direct message someone whom you follow and they follow you . I receive and send many direct messages everyday ( This is Private ) . Normally they are links to stories or stats I have missed and the messengers are being supportive of my tweeter account in private . A player puts out a tweet he is vulnerable to a negative response unfortunately the naysayers are always lurking . For those who disparage positive interaction with the true fans you are doing the player no justice . If only the naysayers respond ( trust me they will ) what is the player or his family members to think of the fan base ? I highly recommend the like option if you don't wish to comment or retweet .

I just have a very different view of it. I don't think Twitter has made sports any more exciting than they were without Twitter and I don't think it's a good look for fans to try to buddy up with recruits/players on Twitter to try to make the player or themselves feel special.

I personally agree with this view, but I don't disparage anybody else for having a different perspective.

people are going nuts over the word maintain? doesnt take much for some people i guess. to me it means stay the course but read into it what you want

There was a post on GBI a few days back that quoted a tweet from CE, though the tweet itself was already deleted.

At the risk of spreading hearsay, the deleted tweet apparently stated something along the lines of "got to try something new"

I guess my question is...why would people think he'd even want to transfer? Granted, I didn't see a lot of Purdue's games but I got the impression from what I read on this board that he got ample PT. If you're getting on the court for a team making a run in the tourney and most of your team is coming back, transferring doesn't make much sense...

Isn't this making a mountain out of a mole hill? I would hate to be around people that do this kind of stuff everyday.

Let's hope he was referring to switching from Jimmy John's to Jersey Mike's or something like that.

Cheesesteak or the Italian, Mike's Way, all day over Jimmy John's......sorry, Jimmy.

What's the difference between tweeting and posting on this forum? Do you believe players don't read posts make here?

You seriously don't see a difference between posting something on a public message board and tweeting directly at/to players? Wow.

Well, since you called me out specifically, here is my response to him:

It was done to express appreciation for the effort put forth this year and say I'm looking forward to next season. It had nothing to do with the idiotic rumors floating that he might transfer. I've had many interactions with players, former players and coaches over the years and they've all been very gracious and recognize that we are the reason they get to do what they love.

I like what you wrote. Nice job!
