What will be the mismatches against the Boilers and the mismatches for the Boilers? What are the biggest keys (other than scoring more points than the opposition) to Purdue winning this game?

I'm concerned about this game. I think we'll see a lot of full court pressure from Minny and they have a bunch of those 6'6-6'7 guys that give us fits. But, like they did against MSU, don't have many shooters and lack composure.
I predict and ugly win.
Boilers:71
Minny: 64

I did not know that Basil is shooting 56% from the field this year - better than he's shooting from the foul line (55%).

One matchup to watch is Haas vs. Reggie Lynch. Who will get into foul trouble first? I read somewhere tat Lynch averages 6 blocks per 40 minutes but only plays about 20 minutes per game because of foul trouble. Haas appears to have the better offensive game.

I admit to seeing Minny only one time against MSU. What stood out to be was a seeming lack of discipline. I think Purdue makes them pay dearly for that and wins Big again...20+.

Wild and uneducated guesses:
1. We struggle in the first half
2. Haas plays very little
3. Vince is the hero.
4. We don't play any zone
5. Painter gets a tech

I agree with the lack of discipline comment regarding Minnesota. They have some really good players, but the team occasionally plays worse than the sum of their parts. That said, I think the Boilers -14 is an awfully big number. I would love to see another run away, but Minnesota is good enough to keep this game inside of 10 points and could win if Purdue doesn't come out ready to play.

Minnesota is the more athletic team, but I don't think that they have good balance on offense. They seem to rely heavily on individuals making plays. I can see Purdue pulling away in this one, but you never know.

Yes, #22 Reggie Lynch is a legit shot-blocker and one of his younger teammates (with the same hairstyle), freshman #24 Eric Curry is their leading rebounder. They have some depth in their frontcourt. Hopefully, the Boilers will bring their A game.

Actually our leadijg rebounder is Jordan Murphy. Curry is also a pretty good rebounder. I believe he averages slightly over 6 a game in around 20 minutes a game.

The difference in this game will be does Purdue want to lick out there. Problem with teams like Purdue is they bring fire when it is already warm outside. When you need to warm up the place they don't got it. They go out and lick. My hope is that they bring it hard. Minnesota embarrassed Purdue basketball and wrecked Purdue's season that one year Purdue was injured, I believe it was RH who was out. They put RH out of the game and took away perhaps Purdue's chances of a national title legit level. Nevertheless, they score stomped Purdue laugh styled and reveled in Purdue's misery since. Purdue should have nothing but supreme hatred for that team. Pure hatred. If Purdue plays with the intent to wreck them then perhaps a win will be achieved. If they think their just gonna waltz on out there willie nilly and just win the game with no emotion then they might as well stay home.

That's right. It slipped my mind even though I wrote it in the initial post. Yes, he's averaging 6.1 RPG.

Yuck. Hope you didn't wager anything.

Someone in this thread (slidde1) wrote that "Minnesota sux". You still believe that to be true, slide?
