Purdue lands ex-Mississippi State punter Keelan Crimmins

I was hoping that we would get a better punter instead of just substituting one for another with similar abilities.

Big but overlooked part of the game by most fans (field position) I'd be interested to see what kind of $$$ the best are commanding.

Teams with great punters aren't necessarily a good thing. Haha

We needed a punter and he’s a competent one. He’s not super awesome but he can do the job. A lot of good teams don’t waste scholarships on kickers or punters. If the team is good enough, they just attract kicking specialists as walk ons. I guess I should be happy someone thought enough about Purdue they wanted to leave a team that would have to a bowl game for us. Was he about to beat out at Miss st? He was the 67th best punter in colleges? Doing the numbers, that means he’s not good enough for the BiG10, big 12, sec or acc. But he’s good enough for us

For some of the defensive snooze fests I've watched during bowl season, if the teams are close to evenly matched in terms of talent a lot of the times it comes down to who can keep the other guy pinned behind the fifty the longest.

We've almost always been a school whose primary W/L success comes from some level of offensive success.

I guess we shouldn’t be so negative! This guy came from Australia via Mississippi to be with us. This guy is happy! We should be happy for him

Yeah, making a team go 80 or more yards (instead of, say 60) could make a big difference in a close game. Every piece helps.
