Because skill will out play athleticism 24/7.
ON REBOUNDS
Box and find = SKILL
Jump = ATHLETICISM
ON BLOCKS
Block and take possession ( if you can get your hand on it, why not grab it?) = SKILL
Send the ball to the stands (albeit showy but the opponent still has possession) = ATHLETICISM
ON SHOOTING
Seen all the time in the male play these days... guy can dunk (athleticism) but can't make a free throw (skill)

A turning point game, the last chance to grab third in the BTT. BT is clearly stratified on top. Md clear #1, OSu clear #2, Mich clear #3, Purdue is one of six teams vying for fourth and will end up somewhere in that middle stew and not surprising. I disagree that performance was lackluster. Michigan is the better team and has beaten most others and will continue to do so. Had not that freshman gone crazy in the end, Purdue might have won this game. For example, Ashley has had hot games and if that happened to her and not to the frosh, we would have won. We were competitive, just not good enough. Not making excuses. Playing better would have made a difference and FT shooting is atrocious two games in a row which basically took us out of it.
This team can win all of its remaining games or lose a few of them. We are back on the NIT track. That's just the way it is and we all know it.
