You have been on a roll here latelyThey're left over StormTroopers who meet in war with his Great, Great Grandfather Obi-Wan Kenobi (OB1) in a galaxy far, far away. Hell, I don't know why either. Just being silly since it's too early for a drink.

Wow, I want some of that coffee!
Well put, & sometimes a well oriented/"team player" can be a locker room bonus, on & off the court, while still growing into his body & improving beyond others expectations. Too many chiefs, & not enough indians, can spoil the cake Remember Kip Jones, he grew into his body, athleticism & potential. The frosh. Kip was a world apart from the finished senior product. He was rail thin & physically weak, when he first came to Purdue, & left, full of muscle, coordination, talent, & potential. Maybe Conner has the beginnings of a Kip Jones? I trust Coach Painter, he is proven, year after year, after year.
"In Painter We Trust"
Go Boilers!!!
Ah, Billy - Kip Jones - there's a name from the past! I hadn't thought of him for some time. He obviously played a huge role for us in some big games. Two questions come to mind that I'll throw out to the other "old-timers" on this board:
1. Didn't his free-throw percentage decline every year from his freshman year in high school through his senior year at Purdue?
2. Didn't he play a year of football under Fred Akers after his basketball eligibility was exhausted?
I'll always remember Kip taking on one of the goons from Georgetown, that made my day.tight end IIRC
don't know about the progressive decline, but I always remember him as a "shaky" FT shooter at best.
do you also remember he was a burger boy?Ah, Billy - Kip Jones - there's a name from the past! I hadn't thought of him for some time. He obviously played a huge role for us in some big games. Two questions come to mind that I'll throw out to the other "old-timers" on this board:

Must be Friday; people are being nice and polite It's like a gentle rain in the middle of the night. Okay, enough of my weird analogies. Back to combat!
What!!!???? FIRE PAINTER NOW!!!!!Purdue just offered 2* (not that that matters but for some it does)...Valpo Senior SF 6ft 7in Conner TenHove......per the website verbalcommits.com find Purdue Team page about half way down it says it...
Great 3 point shooter and passer....under the rim guy but great shooting and drive to the basket skills.
He has offers from Air Force....but interest from Michigan, Northwestern, Xavier, Butler etc.....
Edwards, Brown and Tenhove would be a great class.......then get ready for 2017 Blue Chips.....
Boiler Up!
Sorry, but I disagree with your thinking and that's what put us in a hole after the 07 class. You have to keep recruiting top players that can come in and compete for a starting spot now. If for no other reason, to push the players that do start. If we recruit a kid, hoping they will contribute by the time they are a jr or sr, we are going to be bad again. The chances of developing a kid that is a project is probably less that 20%. Does it happen, yes, but for every Chris Kramer, we end up with about 5 kids that transfer after a year or 2.
There's no team in the country that has their full allotment of scholarships used by "starter" worthy players. We are looking to redshirt non-freshmen because of depth. And it's not like we graduat a ton of great players this year. We will have 3 seniors that play.
I think it was cleared days ago that there was not an offerWhere's the link saying we offered? Cause even verbalcommits stated we're just interested in with no offer.
Oh ok, I just didn't see anyone saying definitively if we'd offered or not, I just saw VC had stated we were interested in him with no offer.I think it was cleared days ago that there was not an offer
Other than Weatherford (and possibly Taylor), every scholarship player on this Purdue team is capable of being or is a starter-worthy player, so that's pretty close to completely filling out a roster with talented players.
Hammons and Davis are pretty good players. At any rate, they can find a better player and fit to offer than Ten Hove. Remember, CMP wouldn't offer Nic Moore a scholarship out of high school but guys like Ten Hove should get one instead?

Well it was listed on 10/30 that we did offer......it was on the Purdue page about half way down where it shows Herard committing to MSU (was listed right underneath that)....but now it has been removed.Oh ok, I just didn't see anyone saying definitively if we'd offered or not, I just saw VC had stated we were interested in him with no offer.
You're seriously delusional about Taylor. Other than maybe Rutgers there isn't a single big ten team he would start for. Very much raw and still a project at this point. He definitely has some tools but it's up to him to put it together. Will never be the type of player we build our team around. Nothing wrong with that, some guys just aren't as talented as others. Probably will average around 5mpg this year.Hmm I think J Taylor could start for this Purdue team if needed.....great effort last night.....
He just has Biggie, Haas and AJ in front of him is why he doesn't but he could start.....
The recruiting system is prejudice against white players. What do Adam Morrison, Frank Kaminsky, and Doug McDermott all have in common? They're all former college National POTYs who weren't rated as Top 150 prospects coming out of high school. You could argue that they didn't win the award until they were upperclassmen. But these guys were filling up the tin at an elite level as soon as they stepped on campus. Kaminsky just didn't play early on because Wisconsin is very happy to stock up on underrated white guys.
Ratings mean very little. Does this guy have "it"? You want "it". Dakota and Cline have "it". Carroll most definitely did not have "it" and I'd prefer never to see another player like that in a Purdue uniform.
Damn I thought I had your dumb IU ass on ignore...I actually had to read your response.....You're seriously delusional about Taylor. saw pretty much the same thing. The exrta weight may have slowed him down a bit and he doesn't elevate greatly...low release doesn't help/ GREAT FT look though.PUChevy, I love Taylor too. Really, really want to see him succeed on court (and off!)
My observations from the game on Taylor:
1. Seemed his footwork was a bit slower than i expected and he got lost on D a couple times or was out of position. Footwork could be conditioning/injury, i was just hoping for better quickness. But being out of position is more court awareness that he still needs to work on
2 His free throw stroke is AWESOME. It looked great and I dont think he missed any. He should be a high % FT shooter with that stroke - nice for a big man!
3. Got his shot blocked about 3 times in a row on one possession. Also made a few nice post moves for buckets too. So again, you could see the potential but also the 'bad' when he wasnt reading the D and getting stuffed.
Rereading my 3 points above - two of them sound kind of harsh. That was not the intent and I hope they dont come across like that. I love his game and with a bit of conditioning (or injury improvement) and court awareness - you can see the diamond in there! He is close. It is just not all the way there yet.
