Transfers scored 43 of the 60 points for Purdue. Amiyah started instead of Swanson and still showed next to nothing in her 28 minutes scoring 4 points and notching only 2 assists.

Yeah, I have to say that I'm not very confident going into B1G play. This team just doesn't seem to have a lot of punch. Kindof reminds me of Versyp's latter teams when getting into the mid-60s was a real struggle. At least Destini Lombard has looked strong. Reagan Bass to a lesser extent--but she needs to bring it against top teams. Trouble is, both of those players are one-year stopgaps.

Not disagreeing - seems less than stellar for sure. I didn’t see or listen to the game, so no opinion one way or the other …

Here’s CKG post game comments on her play. Her take is much more positive, which is not unexpected.

We are in such deep trouble if CKG thinks that stat line is praise worthy.................... ridiculous

Yeah, but Gearlds didn't exactly praise the stat line so much as she pointed out Reynolds was a steadying influence. Every player has to start somewhere.
For her first college start, 27 minutes and only 1 turnover as the primary ball handler, I'll take it. Let's see how she does against #7 on Saturday.

Reynolds' stat line isn't exactly "bad". 1 TO is nice in 27 minutes of being the primary ball handler - especially given our TO problems ever since...forever it seems. But it's all relative to WHO we are playing! Maine isn't an attacking defense. They are a half court, grind it out team that makes you execute in the half court. That's where you really need a good PG - and she played 27 minutes in a half court game- and only produced 4 pts and 2 asst - with an overall team that is supremely more talented on paper than its opponent. Yet that team was still down at half and and struggled to score 60 points. THAT is what makes me critical of her play ESPECIALLY knowing that Big 10 play is right around the corner with teams that are really, REALLY good.

I get that KG is trying to be somewhat optimistic - again these girls are HERS - and she is trying to give them some confidence going into the BIG gauntlet - but I'm just not seeing anything so far that is giving me any hope that we'll be able to compete with many of these stacked teams in our conference. We should not have struggled to beat Maine at home. Along with many other games this preseason. Also - I don't see Reynolds being the missing piece. I need to see what Poole brings to the table as I am much more hopeful she will give us more than what Amiyah has showed.
