Purdue at Michigan State: MASTER DISCUSSION THREAD

is he supposed to catch the ball too?
He was fine tonight. First time in awhile. Most of that had to do with a really bad MSU pass rush.

Just proves tho that even with all the time in the world this offense is just bad in the pass game. Really just bad overall.

The Edrine miss catch that cost us a TD is a microcosm of the season and Walters tenure. When you have the momentum against a team you’re better than…do EVERYTHING you can to F it up.

plus we had no run game at all, you need a good run game to set up the passing attack

Not vs bad teams like MSU. They might be worse than NW but we shit the bed pretty hard here tonight.

We got anything and more in the pass game tonight. Was simply about catching the ball in crunch time and all we had were drops. Card is slow with reads but even with that he can’t catch the ball too. Was good enough to win tonight…the lax approach from staff IMO leads to players not being locked in and having easy drops like we saw tonight.

That’s 1000% coaching.

I mean......I'm almost speechless on that.....He's 10 yards behind the D, with an almost perfectly thrown ball and a walk in TD and......he drops it.
It's just another kick in the nuts to everyone involved with Purdue football.
this is what happens when you recruit players based on speed rather than the ability to catch a ball. they say you can't teach speed. But we have seen over 1,000 times you also can't teach the ability to actually catch a ball. Great receivers don't need speed to be great - just ask jerry Rice or Don Driver. Neither was known for having tremendous speed.

don't know if he's speedy or not but it seems like this staff likes the taller type receivers, to Edrine's credit he makes some nice catches but he drops one every game. I would like to see more of a mix in regards to the receiving corps. I like some tall receivers but have some 5'10 ish burners mixed in. Edrine was a portal guy. Thought we'd get more out of Kam Brown this yr , saw him do well at UCLA
