Punk move by auburn coach

The team I root for has waaaaaaay more than the team you root for - so yeah, bottom line is “all I’ve got” is infinitely more than what you’ve got - so sad that you’re here 3.5 hours after end of game that your team didn’t play in . It is miserable being an IU fan isn’t it !
whatever makes you sleep tight tonight 63-14

You are right, it probably won't happen because Auburn will always be in mid tier bowls getting their butts kicked by Alabama, Georgia, and Florida. Purdue is on the way up once Brohm gets a couple of recruiting classes.
Florida has not beaten Auburn since 2000. Meyers was 0-2 versus Auburn. Auburn is one of the few teams to have beaten Alabama under Saban or UGA under Kirby.

“You are going to kick our ass?”
Let me know when you start. Also let me know when your conference has the quality of academics and research that the Big Ten has then we can start talking about what changes the world. When your ass needs save by our research we will call timeout and think about it like your coach should have done. But since we are a classy organization after we call time out we will still save your ass

This is a great take ... and if you post it to the Purdue academics and research message board, I’m guessing everyone over there would just love it!

Not trash at all. Dude just trying to run the ball. If he gets it the clock runs, if not Purdue get the ball. If the team had showed up we wouldn't have this conversation.

Not to mention, in blowout games people tend to look at it from the perspective of the losing team. But in a bowl game especially, there are many guys on the winning team who are playing in their last game, they have prepared for a month too, etc etc. To ask them to basically quit because they got a big first half lead is unfair IMO. Those kids deserve to have fun and play hard in their last game too.

Plus, Purdue is a strange team. They lose to Eastern Michigan, then blowout Ohio St. They have shown the ability to put up points in a hurry, so it would be poor coaching IMO to take the foot off the gas in the first half, no matter the score. A punt return here, an INT or fumble recovery there, a 70 yard TD reception/run by Moore, etc, and Purdue could cut into that lead pretty quick with plenty of time to play.

beating? JC Purdue should have stayed home with iu
You've got to be kidding. Purdue beat three ranked teams this year - #2 OSU, #16 Iowa, and #23 Boston College. Purdue earned the right to play in a bowl game.

IU hasn't won a bowl game since 1991 - 27 years and you have the gall to lampoon Purdue's shellacking by Auburn, a preseason Top10 team? Did you see the athletic talent Auburn put on the field? Gus Malzahn is a good coach and Auburn was obviously motivated to play and play well. We got whipped by a team with superior talent, size, and strength. Yet we beat the Loosiers in Bloomington. We went bowling and you stayed home again.

Honestly only one team in Big Ten has the juice to play against the SEC.
That's O$U.
Not even with Brohm being at Purdue five years from now.
The SEC is on another plant in football. .

You make it sound like the SEC is one monolithic entity with 14 Alabamas. The SEC is a better football conference, but it's because at the top it wins more championships (10 since 2003), has many teams who have won it all (6) and better depth with no perennial doormats like UI, IU (11 teams in bowls this year).

Purdue could compete with SEC teams and did with Missouri. You just ran up against an Auburn team who underperformed this year and then played for their coach's job.

The one thing that this game did make very apparent is that the CFP didn't screw over tO$U or the B1G in the selection process.

You do realize that Auburn was beaten at home by Tennessee who won only five games all season with a new coach that was like 29th on their hiring list.

Keep your heads up. Malzahn had some boosters at Auburn try to get him fired at the end of the regular season and he was coaching for his job in this game.

Gus took control of the offense and play calling and was more focused for this game than he was all year. It was the best Auburn played all year and showed the potential all Auburn fans thought this team had at the beginning of the season. Largely this Auburn team underperformed all season. It should have been a 2 loss team, with losses at UGA and alabama.

Don’t read too much into this one game. You’ve got a good coach and your program will continue to improve as long as you have your head coach.

Auburn boosters are crazy and meddle too much. The result is that Gus doesn't even have all of the decision-making authority for his team. He should have just said no and walked with a check. You will end up firing him anyway. Auburn fans expect to be as good or better than Alabama when AU doesn't have all of the same advantages.

Gus is one of the top 5 highest paid coaches in college football at somewhere around $7M per year. With a top 5 salary, it is fair to have top 5 expectations. And very few people walk away from jobs that provide generational wealth like that.

You are a ****ing Missouri fan. Your school covers up rape and sexual assault committed by football players. You had a female swimmer commit suicide a few years ago because her rape by a football player was covered up by your school. Go phuck yourself.

The good news is you are so irrelevant that most people don't know or care about this

And you realize Purdue beat #2 Ohio State, too? Great teams get upset every year. It's why every game counts in college football.

Isnt that the only school the athletes can read? I have noticed most of the gators are D.A.F. - fans, students, and athletes. I can't speak for Auburn since my only experience is Floriduh.

It's just a game.
Google Josh Dobbs. Great QB...Aerospace Engineer. Responsible for the ass handing of Iowa, NW, and Nebraska. Seems like a kid that won’t be washing cars after the NFL.

I wasn't suggesting he leave. I was suggesting that he tell the AD that he is going to follow the letter of the current contract and not let them usurp duties from him. Essentially he should continue to operate status quo and if they don't like it, they can fire him. If he gets fired he still gets paid. Gus was way too nice. My conclusion is that he really loves Auburn and wants to coach there despite the changes.

As far as your first sentence goes, Purdue is now paying Brohm $6M/year. I'm not saying Purdue can't make the CFP, but should Boiler fans EXPECT that in a couple of years or fire him?

You are emotionally unstable, uninformed and you jump to conclusions instead of learning the facts. That's not a recipe for success in life. Be better.

Actually, Brohm's revised contract is not fully-executed yet, so no one knows what he's going to be making going forward, except maybe Mike Bobinski, Mike Berghoff, Brohm, and his agent.

The numbers I've seen thrown out are more like $5.0 - $5.4M/yr, which is slightly higher than Louisville supposedly offered. Brohm also pushed for a larger assistant pool.

I just despise know it alls that really don't know shit. Auburn gave Gus a new contract last year knowing good and well he was not Saban. Your claim that Auburn expects to be Alabama is nonsense repeated by a moron who has no clue what he is talking about

I also dont know what Auburn boosters did to Gus this year in reality. Gus himself denied reports that he renegotiated his contracts and reports that new assistant coaches were only offered one year contracts were later proven false. The new offensive coordinator was given at least a two year contract.

The one thing you got correct is that Auburn under performed this year. Do that enough times and any coach will be fired

And we beat both uga and bammer last year as well. Beginning in 2010, we have played for the NC twice and won it once, played in the Sugar Bowl and Peach Bowl, in addition to the mid-tiered bowls.

A lot of people on here don't really think about what Auburn is up against. Literally the "evil empire" of college football. In order to compete with that (Nick Saban, perpetual Top recruiting classes, constant ESPN hype), Auburn and Malzahn have to recruit at a very high level. There's a reason why Auburn was tabbed to be a preseason Top10 team. Very talented all over the field. Hell, Nick Coe didn't even play and he's Auburn's best DL.

It's surprising that Malzahn gave up playcalling duties - he's very good at it. I don't understand all that went into the decision to have the guy he had as OC, but Malzahn did a great job calling plays against Purdue. The new guy from Memphis may be a good one for Auburn.

To me the only thing more embarrassing than a complete beat down ass whipping is to complain afterwards about the manner in which the victor kicked your ass. If you can't stop them it's not their fault!

It's equally embarrassing to try to excuse the ass whipping by changing the topic. A bowl game is not an academic competition. It's football and football only. Auburn was way better and it wasn't even close. Now we see the gap and it can only be closed by adding size, improving strength, speed and competitiveness and setting the standard higher than it ever has been at Purdue.

It's not Hazell's fault. The university as a whole has not been sufficiently committed to football to expect to consistently compete with the likes of Auburn for decades. If you have not yet made a sufficient investment then don't cry about not getting a payoff. Now university, staff, roster and fan base is fully committed. They're making the I vestments now and that's HUGE, but the complete transformation will take some time.

We got our ass kicked. Consider this experience to be a clarion call - or a call to arms if you prefer. Pick yourself up by bootstraps. Resolve to close the gap and . . . . Quit whining!
