I see possible portal transfers as Heide, Berg, Colvin, Cox,and Harris. They all would like more playing time and don't see that happening here next year. The only one leaving is Furst so if they want to play more it won't be here. Hope they don't leave but we must face the reality of some of them going where they could play more.

I see Cox, Harris, Colvin, and Heidi as a key part of the team next year. The key will be who can step up and play defense. With the addition of the new recruits, this team will sub often and be more aggressive next year. Just lack the horses and experience this year.
Heide abs Colvin have played in over 60 college games. Cox and Harris almost 30. Not sure experience is the issue when we seem to be fading late in the year.
But I think they want to start and don't think that will happen for them at PU. Wish they would stay but think they want to play more than they do here. Just my opinion but that is the way I see it.

Sure players can get minutes by going down a level. The players you list aren't difference makers, and are all replacable. Hope they a 'll stay, especially the freshmen......possible difference makers in a couple years.
Painter can point to TKR and honestly explain the benefits of staying. However, no one is irreplaceable with the whole portal thing. 4537 D1 scholarship players 1745 starters that leaves 2792 nonstarters. One wrong transfer can crash your season and team harmony. IMO they all should stay and work harder to improve their chances rather than chase rainbows.
We need to upgrade at the center position, so Berg leaving would actually open up a spot for that to happen. It helps to move TKR back to his more natural position at the 4.
No sure I agree. TKR has become a totally low post, on the block, back to the basket player. Whatever semblance of a game he had outside the paint is now gone. I think we leave him at the 5 but find an athletic big who can run, stretch the D and rebound.
Not sure I would use "totally low post", but maybe primarily? Trey with some space has shown an ability to drive the ball against those that defend him quite successfully. What he doesn't have or hasn't shown to have is a jumper. I think there are lots of ways or needs for a 5 man...rebounding...defense and a person that holds his man on him at least 8-10 feet from the basket (short corner?) Any extra range while accomplishing the previous is fantastic!
Maybe, but Jacobsen needs to tighten his handle and improve his passing to be an effective 4. Also needs to prove he can switch effectively on D and stay with smaller players on the perimeter.
Exactly…. Storr looked like he was going to be an all American last year at Wisconsin. Left for Kansas and had a huge regression. In comes Tonje to take his place and becomes an AA. The grass isn’t always greener.
With Jacobsens length, a smaller guy can get a step on him and he still can disrupt from behind
Its much more about $$$ these days. Players will take less playing time for the right price.
Purdue doesnt have to go out and shop on the transfer wire, but the NiL fund does need to step it up and make sure we dont lose anyone this year.
Tons of rumors about Braden Smith transferring to kentucky on twitter. I expect his market value to be extremely high this off season so retaining him and the rest of what is likely to be a final four caliber team day one will cost as much as Purdue has ever spent in NiL funds.
Painter is putting guys in the NBA that no one thought stood a chance. I don’t think Braden would be anywhere near the player he is if he didn’t come to Purdue. I think Braden has to realize he will have a great chance to go to the NBA if he comes back to Purdue and follows up with a great next season. Not sure the risk of transfering and trying to develop that chemistry with a new team is worth it.
I have no doubt that Purdue's top three will get some attention, offers, from other schools in an attempt to poach them from the program. I am hearing that UK is making an offer for Braden.

The playing time is there for Colvin and Heide. Their games have to be more consistent. Each have to score more consistently, defend and rebound. They were the two players that let Purdue down this year.
Yeah rumors swirling for a few weeks now that UK is going to offer him big money but it’s just rumors. Lotta burner accounts on X creating fake chatter. If we can wrap up a deal with Cluff and get either a stretch wing and/or a bigger, defensive minded guard who can go get his own shot, I think we will be in a good position to show the big 3 we are all in for next year.
As sophomores I thought both players really developed as playing time increased. They are both rising stars , to say they let Purdue down is a……. Our defense or lack of was our Achilles heal and I won’t go there on why
I remain highly skeptical about Braden’s NBA chances despite where he may rank on the 2026 NBA draft prospects list.
Gotta pay him, regardless. Portal comes second after paying Smith and TKR, in particular.
I think he could hang around as a backup PG. I’m super curious to know what Chad Buchanan’s thoughts are on him, since he’s watched him play since junior high.
I love me some Braden but he isn't NBA material.
I can't see him drippling into the teeth of the defense, getting double or triple teamed, picking up his dribble and finding someone to throw the ball to for an assist.
IMO none of TKR, Smith or Loyer are NBA material.
TKR if he improves his handles and develops a consistent perimeter shot.
Maybe Colvin, Heide or Harris have a chance.
I'd think Braden has much more of a chance at the pro's than Myles or Heide. Harris has the best chance of those three. but he's a stretch to make it.

Braden will have a long career in the NBA as a journeyman guard. He is likely not a Lottery Pick.
Braden would need to adjust his game to carve out a niche in the NBA, but I won’t be shocked if he figures it out.
Myles or Colvin? That’s the same guy my friend.
And to say Harris is a stretch…need to see the jump he makes next year and then to junior year when Braden and fletch are gone before declaring that.
Yes, he will need to be able to distribute the ball to scoring players and hit open shots.... It will be very difficult adjustment.
Dude just drew a constant double from top NCAA defense on the closest thing to an NBA team in college, and shredded it... not a long adjustment. We just saw it.
Court is bigger in the nba and he will play with the best players he has ever played with. He makes everyone better around him. All he needs is a chance and he can make it. Just like Zach and yes I know he’s got the height, but they both needed that chance and they both figure it out. They both have kept getting better and better, so let’s see what the beard has in store for us next year.
NBA and NCAA court size are the same, 94x50. Free throw lane in NBA is wider at 16’ vs 12’.

You see some comparisons to Nash or Stockton, although I don't know how much those games translate to today's NBA (which is crazy to ponder) - think Smith has better defensive skills/instincts than Nash. People forget how many steals Stockton would get (still the NBA all-time record, IIRC). He had some teammates who could really man the paint, but he was exceptional off-ball and with dig downs.
There's always room for a reserve role if he can make the adjustments and get a good team fit - he'll get a shot - that's all you can ask for.....he could also excel in transition - what if Memphis picked him up?
