LOL they have all of 3 national championships. One in '58. One with Saban. One with Miles. It's not like they win them all the time in that "talent rich" state considering there was a damn near 50 year drought in there. Miles won his 3 years after Saban was gone and then went to another championship game 4 years later. So ya, get some perspective.
Yeah. I'm not worried what any SEC fan base has to say about the coach. They're all delusional.

Fleck is my #1. But I would be impressed if we hired Miles. That would send shockwaves through CFB that we are serious about FB again.

I find it interesting that the contingent who are anti-Miles are almost equally split between "he's too good for us" versus "he was terrible at LSU and we don't want him".

I agree about this. Whether you would like the hire or not, it would be front-page news about the Purdue program and most likely viewed favorably at least at first.

LSU has 42 players on NFL rosters right now. Next highest is 36 (FSU & 'Bama).

Who out there thinks he will get that talent to West Lafayette? LSU is considered a top 10 job if not top 5 but everyone who follows college football. LSU has been a powerhouse for the entire lives of recruits. Purdue was last relevant on the national stage 12 years ago, when recruits were ages 5 and 6.

I was at the game last season when Arkansas had a huge talent disparity and went into Death Valley and embarrassed them. Many thought he would be gone the next day.

He's gotten 4 & 5 star QB recruits and hasn't been able to develop ONE of them (Mettenberger was a transfer). How will he develop a 3 star QB? OBJ and Jarvis Landry looked average in his offense.

You want a hire to make shock waves? Wouldn't your rather someone who can make a long term impact over a (somewhat) sexy hire? Miles is not the guy to get us out of this mess.

It's all about what kind of staff he puts together. This is about so much more than the HC. Bottom line there's no higher profile coach currently on the market. Miles is known nationwide. I think he's the safer choice than Fleck. I think Fleck has more upside and therefore he's my first choice. But to think Miles wouldn't be a huge shot in the arm for this program is just foolish.

Good points, FTT. Being serious and making the best hire aren't mutually exclusive, but they also wouldn't necessarily result in the same hire.

It isn't only the HC that we would be getting. It is the fact he knows and is able to put together a top flight staff...something Purdue hasn't had since Tiller's initial staff in 1997.

What a coach says publicly and what his agent says privately are often too very different things.

And also doesn't mean communication hasn't been going on via 3rd parties for him (search firm and his agent). So he could be correct in that he has not talked to Purdue, doesn't mean talks aren't or haven't gone on.

THIS! If I am paying an agent a some what large % of my income (probably 5-10% range for Les), I am going to allow that guy to do all the talking for me, filter out the BS, and then ask me when I need to be asked about things. This guy has probably worked for Les for a number of years and understands exactly what he wants in negotiating. Why pay a guy and not have him do anything?

please select from the following and post why
I put other....to be honest I wish it was still Danny Hope, but with a different defensive and offensive coordinators.

That guy loved Purdue and he had the fire to win and his players loved him, but he made bad choices for offensive and defensive coordinators.

That all being said, I would like to see Sumlin....time will tell.

I know whoever it is I will support 100% and Boiler Up!
