"Other" because Holtz is uninspiring and the other two will have better opportunities.

I will go with Fleck. He is the best option in my opinion. He is a Midwest guy who can recruit.

you people that selected other need to tell us who? Fleck, Miles and Holtz seems to be the top 3.

I picked other. And I'm going off a shot in the dark, and saying Sumlin. Was on the hot seat before the season, started off great, but has fell off the last month, and has only won 2 of his last 5 (wins were against New Mexico State and UTSA). A lot of fans want him fired. Think if he doesn't beat LSU, there's a possibility he's fired. And Mike Bobinski rides in shirtless on a Gold and Black colored stallion, to bring Sumlin back home to Boiler Country.

There's parades in the streets when we win 6 games his first year. By year 4, Sumlin is locking up top 5 recruiting classes and we are part of the CFB Playoffs that year. 25 years in the future, Sumlin comes back into town, having retired from coaching 10 years earlier, for the unveiling of the new statue that's being put out in front of Bobinski-Sumlin Stadium, Purdue's new state of the art football field. He's also there to see his protégé's #1 ranked team. Coach Brees has the #1 ranked Boilers looking like a well oiled machine still, and they are expected to repeat as National Champions for the 20th consecutive year.

A man can dream.

I voted Holtz.

I don't think you guys will try the "hot MAC guy" again.
I think Miles winds up in the ACC.
Holtz has a solid, inexpensive resume, and gets your AD on Augusta National.

I voted other because I don't want Skip. If he is the coach I will support the team because I love Purdue period.

Do you guys really think Purdue has a shot at Miles? Some say yes due to the fact that he is already talking about what type of assistants he would like. Sounds like he wants to coach again soon. I just don't know if he want to come to the cold state of Indiana and take over a Purdue team that has been terrible?

If there's anyone crazy enough to do it... he'd be it

Other because we won't get the first two and I hope like hell it is not Skipper. Calhoun would be best of the rumors I have heard.

Being realistic, that's where I'm starting to lean. With Oregon and North Carolina likely searching...Miles might find the Oregon job the most attractive out of what will be available/expectations. Fleck has been on record about the NC job.

but depends on search committees, insiders, agents, etc. so who knows

1. Sumlin 2 Fleck 3 Miles 4 Calhoun ................ Skip...Olson

I read were Fleck wont even talk to anyone till after his teams season is over. That rules out hiring him if Purdue wants a quick hire.

I've read the same. It's understandable and I can't fault him. I've seen boosters are trying to get his pay up (he's around 800k without bonuses, I believe).

please select from the following and post why

I say Miles only because if it is not a coach of his caliber then it is time to fire everyone who made the decision. Great thought and strategy better be put into the hiring this time. If the fans demand it then it will be done. The fans hold ALL the power. It is a real simple equation. No fans, no money. No money, no program, and no program students will go elsewhere and the cycle progresses until all the administrators are fired.

Any chance that if anyone other than Miles is hired, that they could steal Charlie Strong's OC away from Texas? Miles is tied to Sark. Calhoun would need a new identity if he were to come to Purdue. ..etc

Calhoun. Would be a terrific hire for Purdue and another great coach in the Big ten. Homerun

Why do people want Miles so badly? He underachieved at a top 5 school for years and consistently had QB problems. Had more talent than any other team a few years in recent memory and still lost. His offense was never great and will be working with much less talent. There is no chance he is our next coach.

Exactly my thoughts. If he kept screwing up at a school loaded with 5 star talent, what would he do at a "regular" school? No offense intended, but Purdue is not LSU when it comes to talent, recruiting base, etc. Very few schools are.

you mean a cold state like Michigan where he played and then coached? Or at Colorado where he coached? Or at Okie St where he coached? I highly doubt weather for a coach plays any sort of factor in the decision unless a family member has an illness that a certain climate helps their diagnosis.

Screwing up? I guess if winning no fewer than 8 games is 'screwing up' then sign Purdue up for a coach that 'screws up' every year. Expectations are sky high after a team has success but nothing is ever sustained...especially in college football. Alabama's dominance is unheard of but not likely to sustain once Saban leaves (just like UCONN women's basketball when Geno leaves...and just like Tennessee after Pat Summit). The success over the course of 13 years at LSU where he went 114 - 34 is amazing.

I have many friends who went to LSU and every one of them wanted him gone years ago. He won a national title but is at a powerhouse in the most talent-loaded state. Get perspective?! Did he get fired for any other reason besides underachieving? Last time I checked that's EXACTLY the reason he's not coaching the Tigers anymore. He didn't build LSU either- Saban did that before he got there.

We need someone that has experience building a program from nothing and that is able to recruit to a school that has challenges. Fleck is number one and everyone else is still a distant #2 for me.

LOL they have all of 3 national championships. One in '58. One with Saban. One with Miles. It's not like they win them all the time in that "talent rich" state considering there was a damn near 50 year drought in there. Miles won his 3 years after Saban was gone and then went to another championship game 4 years later. So ya, get some perspective.

Fleck is my #1. But I would be impressed if we hired Miles. That would send shockwaves through CFB that we are serious about FB again.

I find it interesting that the contingent who are anti-Miles are almost equally split between "he's too good for us" versus "he was terrible at LSU and we don't want him".

Its not going to be Fleck. He wont even talk to anyone till after the season is over and Purdue wants to hire before that.
