Show some tenacity on the sideline. I'm watching the game with my girlfriend tonight and she says "why is your coach so calm when your team is getting crushed?" Good question. We have talent no doubt but sometimes Painter seems to have very little fire. These games do matter. We played horrible granted but we still had a chance. And I'm not anti-Painter but I'm just wondering why he's not pissed when we are getting crushed

I actually would rather see Painter quiet between time outs instead of yelling like Crean does evey second. Game is so fast , by the time a coach yells something the play is over

Just when I didn't think comments on here couldn't get any dumber.

I'm much less concerned with his demeanor on the sideline than I am his inability to recruit at a higher level.

Ok well that's your opinion but I'd like to see my coach get a bit fired up in the first half before the game got away from us - we played like shit - 0-12 front line first half. Yeah maybe your comment is dumber - timeout - show some fire - game over

He knows what we are and fire won't help us play better D. He knows that 5th place finish and NCAA Terrific 32 is our ceiling.

I wouldn't mind seeing a little passion. Maybe it would help spark something?

This was our first true road game and we didn't play well. And we lost by what 7? Our team is very good. We actually are gonna have a great inside/outside game when the year is over. We have some great shooters and some dominant big men. Act like the game means something and get pissed. Don't let us shoot 20 percent in the first half without calling a timeout and showing some fire.

5th place and terrific 32 is HIS ceiling. Getting tired of it. Year after year, same old crap. Can't win any big games = lower seed = lose early in March. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Believing Painter will get us over the hump is insane. He is what he is at this point.

Do not engage the troll. He is an overly aggressive, very hateful person on here. I do agree with your original post. I get a kick out of the person who felt the need to interject Crean in this thread. People need to stop having the little brother mentality and start looking at the real problems, our own team. Painter and his teams continue to under perform in games against quality, out of conference opponents. Moral victories no longer exist after this many years at the helm. If people want to claim that a team is young or some such, then the excuses will never end and any team could say the same thing.

Gene Keady was a fiery cat. I remember him throwing is jacket into the stands several times. That fire did not even translate into any final 4's.

I think he needs to lose that mouth guard.

Would love to see Vincent work his way back to getting on track soon.....he's still a big part of the team and crucial for any significant success, but I wouldn't mind it if that became less of an accessory to his game.

I still think he's going to have some break-out games this year.

The things is, Vince shouldn't be waiting in his junior year for some 'break-out games.' If he hasn't shown the progression at this point, which is really almost 1/4 of the way through the regular season, maybe he needs to be coming off the bench for a different view/approach to games. Again, it isn't who starts the games, it is who finishes. The issue is that Vince has been so bad in most of the games this season, he is hurting the team early on and forcing them to fight back more than they should. A player like Basil may relish the opportunity to start for the first time in his career and bring more to the table defensively than Vince does.

JDB,

I don't necessarily disagree, and I wouldn't be surprised if there is a shake-up in the line-up. And to your point, VE played only 22 minutes last night....his season low (and not due to foul trouble). I think he was averaging 2nd or 3rd most minutes before.

Also, RC and CE played more minutes (23 each).

I still like his game/skillset despite his limitations....plus, he's from Ohio....my home State, although I haven't live there in quite a while.

I know it was just a slip but basil started and played a lot his freshman year. That said, changing up the spot may inspire both players? It takes one less (eyes of the coach probably) one less shooter to surround Haas and Biggie with a quicker more athletic person. Personally, I think it could be a good thing but I don't know the personalities of both players and players respond differently to the same stimuli sometimes...just like fans watching the same game... :)

I'd give it a try not knowing what I don't... ;)
