Jerry Palm just posted an interesting article about what the Committee will consider for at-large bids. Here are some interesting takeaways (which does NOT benefit Purdue):

1. Although there are a lot of computer rankings out there that give Purdue a better score (like KenPom), the Committee only considers the RPI ranking.
2. Conference records don't matter . . . but strength of schedule within conference does. The unbalanced schedule does Purdue no favors for this metric.
3. Playing better at the end of the season is irrelevant to the Committee. The Committee will consider the "entire of body of work", not when a team is winning. In fact, the Committee's reports on each team will not even include the dates that games were played. Again, not a favorable factor for Purdue.
4. Head-to-head records against other at-large teams is not relevant.

Needless to say, this explains why our seed and position on the bubble is so precarious. If Purdue keeps winning, then all will be fine. But a 2-2 record to finish the season, plus losing first game in BIG tourney will not bode well for Purdue. If that happens, then I can easily see us on the outside looking in.
