His response to the question on Braden coming back this next season on The Field of 68 was, well kinda just word salad. I’m Just saying, he really didn’t say much of anything in that response regarding the actual question LOL.
He didn’t say he is!
He didn’t say he’s not!!
He’s not wrong on commentary on the portal and NIL!
And so we wait and wonder, patiently or maybe not so patiently…

I think he wanted Braden to be able to announce that he’ll be back himself 😊

My guess is Braden plans to go through the NBA draft workout process like we’ve seen others do before. So even if he does not plan to enter the portal, the coaches aren’t sure if he will be back until the draft workouts are over and it’s confirmed that he isn’t entering the draft. That’s my theory on why no one has confirmed his plans for next year.

I was thinking the same thing. Whatever happens with the portal and NIL deals, I assumed both Braden and TKR would at least provisionally declare for the NBA draft and go through the evaluation process. I honestly don't know the timetable on that, though.

I think both Braden & Trey will do that.

Classic Goodman asking those type of questions
Can't stand Goodman. I stopped listening to Hummels podcast and Fof68 in general because he thinks he knows everything and is actually a dumba@ss.

Such a stupid question to ask a coach when literally any player could bolt at anytime in this environment.

I agree with the midmajor coach who said players need contracts and buyouts if they leave.

I think he will give the draft a legit shot, see if he can get a 1st round grade. I doubt he will be looked at as a 1st rounder, but he has a quickness despite his size I wonder how it plays against other legit NBA level talent.

This is probably a dumb question, but can a player provisionally declare for the NBA draft and be in the transfer portal at the same time?

It’s possible that Purdue is working to increase his payout. If he really is being offered $5 million to leave for UK, Purdue needs to do whatever it can to incentivize him to stay.

you could just watch how he played against the best in college and have a pretty good approximation.

No offense to Braden, I love him to death but I can't see a barely 6 footer going in the first round. Definitely not this year, probably not next year even if he duplicates his stats from this year and we win the Natty.

Sorry if that hurts people's feelings but I said the same thing about Drew Brees.

So wait, are you saying you will be wrong about Braden then?

Basketball isnt a one on one game. At the combine he will play against 5 better plaers than any one team has, but will also have 4 better teammates too
But he'll only be guarded by one of them.
What I was mainly referring to was the quickness factor. he's struggled to get loose when superior athletes are paying 100% attention to him. (as does everyone)
That will increase at the next level.
As will the length going against him. That's really slowed him down and forces him to throw much wider, loopier passes to get around LONG arms.
Love Braden, been singing his praises since we signed him.
This year opened my eyes that he CAN be shut down by defender much longer than himself, but just as quick or quicker.

I agree, length seems to bother Braden and that is an issue at the tnet level.

I do think there is a place for Braden in the NBA, but I dont think he is a starter, he is somewhere between backup pg, and emergency pg, which is stll a nice career.

Yes, get feedback. But, I agree that Braden has trouble with tall guards and elite athleticism ( most everyone in the NBA is taller and very athletic). He will likely be seen as a second or third unit player. Now, he could prove me and the league wrong like he has done through his career.

ESPN showed Kalkbrenner highlights right after they announced Braden as the winner of the Cousy award. Absolute joke.

Needless to say his dad was NOT happy, which is understandable.

But also said this:
