Painter at Center Grove this morning

Tell me of your BC ties.
Far too many to discuss here. I do know the backstory to the vote on whether to build one, two, or three new HSs. Spent a lot of time at the Oxford pool. Don't stay in touch with many.

You were in Dawson's class I believe???

Dan was the year following me. I was in '70. We're you by chance a Pine Knot? Know Dan spent some time playing BB over there when Bax Brutus was still among us.

not a knot LOL ... almost married one though. Did you know Dan's sister married Dave Woods, the coach at WL? Bax was Bugsy's brother ... what a family of names LOL

Mussers were Otterency people before BC. Actually Otterency was BC for two years before the final consolidation in 1968. Earl Park was absorbed by Fowler in '64 then Fowler into BC in '70.
small world can see you came from the heartlands of America. ;) before the winters of 78/79 I used to hunt pheasant in the area. Glen's wife...(assuming they are still married) Connie (Gordon) lived on a farm in Earl Park. Seems like I came off 52 turning west and ended up going past a huge brick house and he was about two miles from that (Gail Gordon). Hunted there and the railroad close to his farm. Hunted around Brook (1 1/2 miles west of 65?) on a pig farmers land (Don Clark?) and then around Remington (Weinreink sp?).

No birds anymore. :(

no fencerows, no fallow ... nitrogen replaced it ... but dozing the fencerows was the end of most wildlife. Benton Co, best dirt and best birds in the Midwest in the sixties ... still the best dirt.

THe peasants are still around, just no pheasants.

Did you know her son was killed by a train? --- http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/ncenterprise-info/obituary.aspx?pid=144606488

yeah, fully aware of the fencerow issue. Actually, the fencerow reduction was in place in the 70s to a degree. Those two years of snow I understood killed the birds. Years ago they would release and tag birds and find them a few counties away in that area. I need all that exercise for my blood sugar reduction. ;)

Mother was raised in Benton County. Father came there in 1935 at the age of 15 fresh out of St. Joseph's orphanage to work as a farm hand. Hunted all over the area starting at 9. Even with fence rows present modern farming leaves NO waste grain on the ground. Anywhere the DNR has developed habitat n the area there are birds. If you build it they will come. Grew up in small gyms all over the arwa. Miss the sounds and smells. I know everybody "deserves" a trophy but class basketball killed the interest of many.

Did you ever hug the boiler in the lockerroom at Earl Park ... or play at Pine Twp after it was closed and before it became a tractor repair shop.

killed a lot of interest for me... I started around that age. Shot a bear at 12 in Canada..tasted like cube steak after you tenderized it. We know a life...many don't... ;) So are you saying the birds are on the rise?

No birds that I know about. No quail, no pheasants, a few turkeys, which we never had. 120 acre fields over three 40s .... or 320 over eight 40s. I haven't seen a pheasant or a quail in 40 years.

So.....ya guys think we can land this kid?? I live in his school district & hear he still really likes purdue. This was the original thread if you can remember that far back....

No we don't think it's possible. The kid is a 2019 recruit and we shouldn't even be discussing him because he isn't going to even think about committing or signing until next year. Is that better and more on topic for you?

Nope. This thread became a chat room after Boilermaker 1973 passed judgment on the recruitment.

Thanks for the love. I've felt like you do and probably posted something similar at some time. But at this point in my life, friends and memories and reminisces are far more important than staying on topic. Sure, we could make a different connection, but this is quick and easy. It's just priorities ... mine is different from yours ... but I do respect yours.

I think part of the problem is not easily seeing an email address that one prefers to receive email in...

I think the real problem is the thread started out talking about a 2019 recruit, and we're still looking to fill four 2018 slots. call me bored with something that should wait to be discussed next year. And yes, I fee l the same way about PJ's brother threads.

it's way too early to be talking about 2019. Especially with SI boiler having a retirement ceremony THIS WEEK !

Don't blame it on me I was just saying that's what I heard in this area Michigan State and IU have the biggest chance that's not out of my mouth that's what I heard
