Michigan State fails on a two-point conversion down one fairly late in the 4th (4+ minutes). They got the ball back with no time-outs and close to two minutes left.....turned it over on the second play for a 17-16 final, losing to Ohio State.

Overtime is such a crap shoot....I guess if you're confident, maybe do it if there's little time left. With the way that game was close throughout, I think I would have kicked the extra point and took my chances.

Any thoughts?

Gotta kick it there. Too much time on the clock to go for 2.

Dantonio did exactly the same a few years ago and won-I think against Notre Dame or was it Michigan. This time, being at home and cold weather I think playing for overtime was the best option. But, what do I know? He is making millions, not me.

Why not try? I liked the call. If the Boilers were ever in a position where a win was possible, I'd love to say we went for they win. Either way MSU has had a miserable season...at least Dantonio had the balls to go for it. Kick it and lose in OT and no one questions his coaching...the QB throws that ball 1.25 seconds earlier and CMD is a genius again.

Not as dumb at Pat Fitzgerald and NU going for 2 down 15-6 vs. Minnesota late in the 3rd quarter. They didn't convert and were down 9 instead of kicking the PAT and then going for 2 on the next TD. I'm amazed at how bad some college coaches are at 2 pt decisions.

That being said - I don't blame Dantonio at all. Nothing to lose. Already a miserable season.
