OT: That was brutal. I'm over Caitlin.

Just realized, I like ladies NCAA and HS, but WNBA
sux. Caitlin was great at Iowa, but in WNBA she s diluted. New York undressed Indiana 102-66. Fever scored 10 in the 4th. +/- Clark -24, Boston -33. More power to the people who were scarfing up $200+ tickets. Breanna Stewart is tough. CC was 1-7 from 3. Let the excuses fly. Gotta protect the golden goose. ...lol
I sense that she is catching on to the "W".

You can hate the WNBA or women’s sports in general, but I’m a fan of CC. She’s an athlete and a winner. Yes the WNBA iand all their marketing partners are capitalizing off her because it makes sense. She’s a generational player. She’s a few games into her pro career and breaking (Sue Birds) records. Good for her.

Her rookie numbers are on par with all the greats when they were rookies. Once she finally gets a break to relax and let her body recover from a college bball season straight into a pro league, she’s gonna dominate just like she did in college. There’s a reason teams show her respect and are already double teaming her.

How to not capitalize on your brand 101…

Leave the most popular player off the Olympic team.

Don’t care if she’s a rookie. Your numbers are hitting historic highs for ticket sales and viewership.

THIS. And the WNBA and their referees will destroy the league by allowing thug tactics to slow her down. If she is injured by these tactics, many fans will walk away.

She needs to walk and play for $5M in ice cubes 3 on 3 and show the wnba how much they need her for bigger contracts.

The reality here is many of the CC and especially WNBA bashers are just misogynists in general. We seem to have a pack of them here. Dinosaur country.

Who is the CC basher? And you think what they are doing to her is fun to watch?

Now we know who the real misogynist is, with a little sadism on the side.

I thought the main issue is that she is straight and white and getting paid in a professional basketball league (deservedly so since she is fun to watch consistently drain half court three pointers). And those things just don’t fly in today’s society. Is that the new definition of misogyny? I can’t keep up with culture.

I want to know if these boys throwing around labels watched and truly enjoyed the all-female "Ghostbusters" movie. Because if they didn't, we have been told that they MUST be misogynists. But we already know the answer.

There was an all female GB movie?

it's the 100 previous women bashing posts that net the dinasour association, not the comments on CC.

Took time to watch CC today. 23 pts on 7-11 shooting, 8R, 9A. & 2 blocks. Particularly impressed by her chemistry with Boston the center. I thought she had a great game, didn't force anything, and helped her team win.

One watch, but sure will watch again.

Reece seems very talented & quick, but the F1 was a nasty hit on CC that was over the top. It's like CC is totally in her head and while Reece played well, Reece just reacts poorly to CC.

The Sky will be a problem in a year or 2 because of their bigs. But their bigs don't get space with the shooters they don't have. Carter shoots under 17% from 3 and Allen shoots 10%. Those are their starting guards.

Both the Sky and the Fever are a piece away from being decent. Perhaps two pieces from being elite.

But watching 2 Fever games one yesterday and one early. They certainly have learned to play more as a team over this early stretch.

Fever need another perimeter threat. Wallace is dog poop. Sky need shooters. Two best players are your PF and C. Neither can shoot a lick and get you're throwing out 2 guards that shoot sub 20% from 3 to play alongside them. Their coach might be dumber than the Fevers.

The Fever have adjusted to opponents single, double and triple teams on CC with having her distribute primarily. She has almost been a decoy, offensively. Now she seems to be picking her spots and letting the game come to her, which is certainly an adjustment for her. She seems to be rebounding more as well. The Fever still need roster improvements down low and at the wings to become one of the best teams, but they should win enough this season to sneak into the playoffs.

Angel Reese is a thug, but she's getting her name on ESPN and in the news, so that's all that matters. And of course, WNBA leadership loves that there's growing controversy, especially a racial one, that's getting attention from outside the normally very tiny crowd who cares about the WNBA.

People don’t even have to watch the games to discuss/get all crazy about the “racial” war going on in the wnba…the nba/wanna knows any publicity is good publicity

The WNBA is in the perfect storm right now.
-A white girl is their most marketable product.
-a bunch of black girls and commentators are pissed she's getting paid.
-The goons on the court are taking cheap shots.
-People are actually paying attention.
The marketing people couldn't be more pleased. Now, the meetings are all about how do they leverage this situation.

WNBA & sports commentators needs to leave the imaginary racism out of it.....it's just jealousy, plain & simple. CC has handled herself marvelously in interviews, so it's not on her. But the media, as usual, shameful.

They should take lessons from the Magic/Bird era in the NBA........great players raise all boats.....no matter what color. Rivalry was based on competition for greatness between Boston & LA. There was no racial BS some are pushing in the W Luckily those are few.

I’m not sure why it’s so hard to understand why more people are talking about the wnba…it’s because Clark bombs 3s from anywhere (or did in college at least) and that’s what made ppl excited to watch. Yes there are better and more experienced players, but ppl would rather watch Clark score 12-30 points binging 3s as a opposed to 4-8 ft jump shots.

I mean, we would know. Ppl were “bored” by Purdues play, but we all appreciated it 😂 since it = wins.

Unfortunately, starting with Obama, everything is about race now. It's why we have BLM, DEI and all the other ways to divide people.
It's what sells and gets eyeballs. It's why the MSM focuses so much on race based stories.
I agree, it is about jealousy. It's jealously about someone coming in and making more $ than entire teams before she's stepped on a court.
But make no mistake, Exec leadership at the WNBA is absolutely loving this.
I mean hell, look at this forum for example. The WNBA would never, ever, get mentioned here were it not for CC and the controversy.

If they keep it up, the only people who'll be watching will be the roller derby crowd. Will that be an increase from Before Caitlin Clark (BCC)?

They'll take whatever publicity they can get right now. I'm sure the marketing execs are working overtime to take advantage of this visibility. I mean, even my wife was talking about it and should could care less about either the NBA or WNBA.

To have lived through the Bird/Magic era was a treat for basketball fans. From my perspective, every white person from Indiana was suddenly a Celtic fan; every black person from anywhere was a Laker fan ...yet there was no animosity whatsoever. No racial stuff, just mutual respect. I remember taking a pizza over to my friend's house to watch an LA- Boston game. A magnificent game at the Garden that went against the Celts. I left there steaming inside, but said my pleasantries before departing. The husband and wife, both black, were tickled and sensed my discomfort at having to play the "gracious loser."
Those were the days, pre Jordan. Doubt society is innocent (progressive?) enough today to make such a rivalry palatable.
