Raed a very intersesting article in saturdays Chicago Sun-Times newspaper under the section 'VOICES' by Jay Rosentein a professor at Illinois.. It talked about the exhorbenet cost of tuition for college at U of Illinois and a plan to significantly reduce the cost. I am sorry but I don't know how to link it. It is an entertaining read. If someone else could link it that would be great otherwise you can read his plan @ www.loweruofituition.org.
He basically states that the NCAA schools are getting $7billion dollars under the new ESPN contract for the college footabll playpoffs which equals an extra 24 million dollars per year for each BIG school. 90% of this money should be used to reduce tuition and the other 10% given to the athletic budget. The 3 highest paid employees at Il are in the athletic dept. and 6 of the 9 highest paid are in the athletic dept., i.e, for schools that are supposed to be in the business of education this is NUTS.
