OT Happy Easter Boilers

He is risen indeed.

It's really nice for me to read these messages and I truly wish all of you the best. But in addition to feeling good, I feel some pangs of regret for the anger I sometimes experience as I participate on these boards, and for the things I've written. If we always considered that Jesus was sitting right next to us as we type, I suspect many of these conversations would go in different directions than they actually do.

Actually you don't have to go that far...just imagine you were face to face and type accordingly. Course if I were face to face I could sketch as well... :)

I know I'm going to step on some doctrinal toes here and probably start a theological storm of controversy with this comment, but I actually believe that Jesus died for the people who root for IU also.

:)
No question that is true. In the synoptic gospel of Matthew (26:11) Jesus even says the poor will always be with us and that shouldn't be construed to only mean financial. We will always have some with various degrees of understanding than others. That is not meant to degrade anyone as everyone has value...just in different areas. IU has its place.

Any wishing for a little more insight to the last few days may enjoy Scott Hahn's ...the missing cup or fourth cup. I found it very interesting and was unaware of this until a decade or so ago, but it does provide understanding that some may find of interest. Scott was a rising star in the Presbyterian church before leaving the church. What he does with the fourth cup is explain how Christ in the Last Supper and in the Eucharist offers himself up as the new covenant Passover, and how the Eucharist and the Old Testament Passover are in a sense two sides of the same coin. I didn't realize the re-enactment played out and how the fourth cup from the seder meal was missing (I'm not Jewish) during the Last Supper until Jesus said on the cross I thirst and drank the "fourth cup" of sour wine (given on a hyssop branch) and it was finished...which was also used to smear the blood above the doors on the Passover (noticed by John in his gospel)
