OT - Colts

Fields is a tough evaluation. It is true that his o-line and receivers are horrendous, but his passing numbers aren't just bad, they're downright alarming. Even so, he was so electric that they'd have won several more games if they weren't fielding an XFL roster everywhere else.

This is going to be an all time offseason for Ryan Poles and the Bears. The amount of resources that he's going to expend has never been seen before in the history of the league. Hope he doesn't screw it up.
Even more resources now. Got a haul for the #1 pick.

And of course, Ballard just sits there and will let the top 3 QBs come off the board ahead of him.

Update: Ballard builds his 1980s offense around a running back, but then doesn’t offer an extension to said running back, and said running back, who is the only weapon on the entire roster, will now miss the first 4 games of the season.

🤡

Running back is under contract he signed. Man up and honor the contract. Why would anyone in their right mind offer or trade for a hurt running back?

1. NFL teams routinely cut players under contract. That cuts both ways.

2. Still stupid to build your offense around a RB that you treat worse than a guard or a LB that are coming off injuries.

Looks like the offense is now being built around the new QB, who has far more mobility than Rivers or Ryan. That makes a big contract for a rb of less value.

RBs have short careers and get beat up. Better just to bring guys in with low draft picks and if they work out, let them go before a big contract and repeat.

Looks like Ballard will go 0-8 in division titles. Maybe in year 9.

Must win against the Bears.

Ballard 0-8 in AFC South titles. Has to go.
As a non-Colts fan, but husband of one, the easy response is that Ballard didn't drop a touchdown before the goal line. Good chance they win that game if he doesn't do that. Probably doesn't change the division thing, but their odds of making the playoffs? Wow.

Also the modified flea-flicker pick-six play was another disaster......there's a decent chance three AFC West teams make the playoffs - didn't see that coming heading into the season.

He drafted him. And then paid him $14 million a year.

Also drafted the “quarterback” who can’t complete half his passes.

Got lit up by Drew Lock for 45 points and lost to the worst team in the league. Officially out of the playoffs now.

They are truly stuck in no man’s land. Team is good enough to miss out on high draft picks, but not good enough to make the playoffs.

I lost a FF championship thanks to them. Giving up 45 pts to Lock. You could have taken our defense and I think it wouldn't have been much worse.

I needed to make a last minute injury replacement for Tua (we don't have a bench). Obviously not a lot available. Took AOC and he was decent. Lock was available of course.

I mean who would pick Lock? I also lost because the Lions kicker missed not one but two extra points.

I think the bigger issue was drafting a QB who can’t pass. As if his college performance held any indication that he was any sort of passing leader. I didn’t understand what the Colts were thinking, when there were several much better QBs in college that year who weren’t even entering the NFL. Should’ve waited for Jayden, Nix or even Penix. Or just taken AOC in a later round. Instead we got the only QB in the NFL who can’t even complete half his passes.

Or you trade up and take Stroud.

Or take Jordan Love in 2020.

Or sign Baker Mayfield last year… or Sam Darnold this year…

And sadly, no one will give them anything for Richardson, who suckered Ballard into a huge contract. Ballard should have his office door locked immediately.

Agreed - and if Richardson knew he had lingering back problems…seems like that may void that contract he signed. Surely they asked health question during evaluations & contract negotiations.

I think the onus is on the team to find issues like this during the medical examinations at the combine.
