Fairly tight game early on, Purdue actually lead 1-0 for about 3 innings, but Houston scored like 5 runs in the last 3 innings to beat our Boilers 9-1.
Houston pitcher tossed a complete game.

On to the loser's bracket, as Houston goes on to face N. Carolina.
Will be a tough road to come back from through the bottom of the bracket, assuming it would take beating N.C. (or even Houston, I guess) two in a row to win the regional.

Yes, a tough road from the Regional loser's bracket.....Boilers just need to win three days in a row.

Today's game is scheduled for 1pm (Eastern time).....ESPN3 coverage.

Go Boilers.

Also, in other conference team results:

Texas A & M took down Indiana 10-3
South Carolina over Ohio State 8-3

Minnesota as the top-seed defeated Canisius 10-1

Boilers looking good so far today, up 11-3 batting in the top of the 6th.

Edit/Update - Boilers cruising 14-3 with a weather delay in the 8th.

Our Boilers pull it out, getting the last 6 outs after a 2 1/2 hr rain delay: 14:4.

Going to be a late game now for NC/Houston, since they were to start 30 mins after our game, with additional rain yet in the forecast for later.

Here's to hoping the winner's bracket battles to the very end tonight, and wear themselves out for tomorrow's game.

Re-match this afternoon with the Cougars....then the Boilers would need to defeat the Tar Heels twice to advance. A big challenge for the Boilers, but it can be done.

Indiana is in the same scenario against Texas A & M with the Texas Longhorns waiting for the survivor in the Austin Regional. Ohio State is out, and Minnesota is in strong position to advance after two wins in the Minneapolis Regional.

This is gonna be tough.

The Boilers play Houston today, (Sun, 6/3), at 1pm EST.

If the Boilers win, they will play North Carolina tonight at 6pm.

If the Boilers win that, they will play the Tar Heels again, on Mon. at 4pm.

The winner of that will move on to the Super Regionals.

Wow, what a grinder. Just gotta take'm one at a time.

Unfortunately, the Boilers let a 4-0 lead get away....Houston gets a run in the 5th, three in the 6th, and broke it open with four in the 8th.....8-4 final.

Nice to see Purdue get back in the post-season for baseball....something to build on.
