This will provide some interesting analytics:

Wake Forest lands another former five star recruit from Gonzaga! Hunter Sallis & Efton Reid will reunite in Winston-Salem next season

As a Wake Forest alum, this just shows it has NOTHING to do with NIL or campus location. Let's put those excuses to bed.

I can think of no other reason they would go to Wake outside of being paid to do so.

Recent transfers to Wake have absolutely thrived under Steve Forbes. That has just about everything to do with it.

Alondis Williams went from a role player at Oklahoma to ACC POY at Wake.

Tyree Appleby transferred to Wake and became a 1st team all-ACC player.

So, no proof ?
Such a predictably childish, straw man argument from you. Do you have any proof it was because of NIL?

Also, yes, I do have proof from people within the program and longtime Wake donors.

You’re clueless.

Have you ever been wrong in your life?

So we’re all just supposed to accept this as gospel with no proof, from the guy who cries for the coach to be fired every year?

Winston Salem isn’t that bad. Maybe they got some deal sweetener with unlimited pimento cheese sandwiches.

If you didn't pay attention to the reality of the Pack deal, yeah, this would make sense.
If you think Wake is anywhere NEAR Miami in terms of NIL, well, I don't know what to tell you.

Also, Nijel Pack was a proven performer at Kansas State.

The same cannot be said about the two Gonzaga transfers.

All it takes is one rich booster, like a minority Owner of an NBA team, for example.

We should ask Jim Boeheim to weigh in on this. Wasn't he the guy who went on that epic rant about how Wake and Pitt went out and bought teams last year?

That’s rich coming from the guy who has been busted for cheating multiple times.

If you’re a Wake fan, I’m sure you believe that.
I'm a Wake alum, but I'm a much, much bigger Purdue fan.

With that said, I would hope both Wake and Purdue use NIL to their respective advantages.

Given how much larger of a school Purdue is (with a much bigger alumni and fanbase), Purdue should have a significant advantage over a small, private school like Wake Forest.

You seem to have this mentality that Purdue is some supremely disadvantaged place.

It comes off like you're already building in an excuse for Purdue's future letdowns. It's never Purdue's fault. It's never Painter's fault. It's just that the deck is always stacked against Purdue.

If only Purdue cheated like all the other schools, those losses to North Texas, St. Peter's, FDU, etc. wouldn't have happened. Sigh.

Also, these two Gonzaga transfers hardly played last year. It's really not in the same ballpark as the Nijel Pack situation, in terms of how much they were coveted and who they were coveted by.

I’m not saying Wake is cheating. But Painter’s integrity is definitely a disadvantage when it comes to the portal and NIL era.

He’s not going to tamper with an LJ Cryer before he is in the portal. So a scumbag like Sampson gets him.

He’s not going to use NIL money as a recruiting inducement. (I think he needs to adjust a little here)

Yeah, Purdue does have advantages also. (Mackey, proximity to talent, education, etc)

But listen to Walters and it definitely sounds like we are behind in the NIL game. We need one of these CS grads to start a huge tech company and become the Boilers patron saint.

Very true. Boeheim also got increasingly abrasive in his last few years. He does know ACC recruiting, though.
And he was totally wrong about the Wake and Pitt thing.

Steve Forbes did a hell of a job identifying sleeper transfers (like Jake LaRavia and Alondes Williams), and also recruited a bunch of under-the-radar international players.

Boeheim was a bitter joke of a man the past few years.

He did apologize later, said he only actually knew about Miami. But again, Boeheim doesn’t exactly have the moral high ground to stand on here…
