Oscar Cluff to visit Sunday

i could see Loyer playing 5 less minutes. we have both West and benter coming in next year. Harris and cox will be a year older, and colvin is still around
Agree. He played 31 mpg this year, I could see it coming down by 15%. On the flip side, if he can consistently hit on those looks we saw against Houston where he’s flying off of screens and immediately firing he may never come off the court.

I think we are all on the same page - Loyer will 100 percent start. That is a given. Depending on how each game plays out - you can almost tell from the first 10 minutes of each game - maybe he only plays 25 minutes, maybe less. I expect Colvin to be very good next year - we finally saw some flashes of how good he can be.

Loyer will ALWAYS be a defensive liability. Took Painter til late this season to realize this and start subbing him out. The fact we didn’t have a true scoring and rebounding 4 and having a poor defensive guard is one of the main problems on last years team. So now that Miles is gone let’s get a big guard who can defend and a power forward who can shoot

Loyer has always been so "meh" to me. Much better suited as a 3 point specialist coming off the bench imo. But he's exactly the type of player painter loves so it is what it is.

Or we could just keep loading up an unathletic, spot up 3 point shooters, the route I'm sure you probably prefer.
Nope, you nailed it. Maybe Ivey can petition to use his remaining eligibility if he’s healthy.

I’m just busting your balls. I actually agree that a more athletic 2/3 option via the portal would be very helpful, but calling Loyer meh just shows a fundamental lack of knowledge or understanding.

No, your sarcasm has me convinced. Unathletic spot up shooters are the way to go. Just look at the all the final four starting lineups. They’re littered with loyer clones. To me, you’ve displayed a complete lack of basketball knowledge, but I’m not out here making a big deal about it.

Shocking that you think the way to go is for Purdue to follow what SEC schools and Houston are doing.

Why am I not surprised you find it shocking I want us to emulate schools that are constantly making deep runs who also recruit highly rated guys? Our incoming class next year(not including portal) consists of one unrated 3 star. Not going to cut it if we want to win a championship.

I agree with you, John….For once 😂

I know it’s shocking!

But Loyer is a great 4-5th option as we saw during the NC game run. Having a 50% shooter who teams can’t take away as a third scorer is a great option to have. Auburn, while all could be collecting SS (ok just joking but they’re all old for college), had guys that they could just come in and replace the guy in front of them pretty easily like plug and play. That’s what we need for next year. No drop off or not much drop off.

However, it may mean we need to tweak the offense to include more than 2 dudes.

Agree that unrated three stars suck and don't get it done. Just ask Zach and Braden.

You're right. I don't think we should even bother trying with 4 or 5 stars. Those are for all the loser
SEC teams, Duke, and Houston. Amirite?
Do you actually pay attention to college basketball at all? How many starters for Florida and Auburn were four-star recruits or better coming out of high school?

BTW, Purdue lands four star guys all the time and when Painter identifies a three star like West as an A list guy, his record is pretty damn good.

Are you really trying to compare our recruiting to Florida and Auburn? And you're asking if I pay attention? LOL

Recap:
Jdb123 - three star recruits suck, that will never get it done
NS - yeah, like Edey and Braden
Jdb123 - yeah, well you need four and five stars to win
NS - how many four and five stars start for Florida and Auburn combined? (spoiler, one total 4 star, 0 five stars) + Purdue has a bunch of four-star players
Jdb123 - I really don't like the answer to that, so I'm going to try to change the subject as smoke comes off of the hampster wheel

Florida and auburn recruit highly sought after guys out of the portal portal combined with a higher level of recruit out of high school. There isn’t really much comparison.

I saw Colvin entered the portal. Re-calculate

Purdue is a player development program and a great one at that. Other teams succeed in different ways, but I think it’s fair to say that Purdue has been the best program in one of the premier conferences in the NCAA over the last decade.
