Pretty much. Loyer is Painter's Platonic Ideal of a basketball player.No. Not gonna happen even if it's the right call. But it's not.

Except the whole defense thing...Pretty much. Loyer is Painter's Platonic Ideal of a basketball player.
Loyer is the leader of this team as well. You see it in so many timeouts and team huddles. You saw it last year when he had the balls to change the play to Painter regarding who was going to throw the lob to Zach.Pretty much. Loyer is Painter's Platonic Ideal of a basketball player.
Agree. He played 31 mpg this year, I could see it coming down by 15%. On the flip side, if he can consistently hit on those looks we saw against Houston where he’s flying off of screens and immediately firing he may never come off the court.i could see Loyer playing 5 less minutes. we have both West and benter coming in next year. Harris and cox will be a year older, and colvin is still around
I think we are all on the same page
Sad daysWell disregard with Colvin leaving
Do you think so? I would have liked for him to stay but I understand his rationale for leaving.Sad days
Loyer has always been so "meh" to me. Much better suited as a 3 point specialist coming off the bench imo. But he's exactly the type of player painter loves so it is what it is.Loyer will ALWAYS be a defensive liability. Took Painter til late this season to realize this and start subbing him out. The fact we didn’t have a true scoring and rebounding 4 and having a poor defensive guard is one of the main problems on last years team. So now that Miles is gone let’s get a big guard who can defend and a power forward who can shoot
Agree, team would be much better off with a Shai Gilgeous-Alexander type instead of Loyer.Loyer has always been so "meh" to me. Much better suited as a 3 point specialist coming off the bench imo. But he's exactly the type of player painter loves so it is what it is.
Or we could just keep loading up an unathletic, spot up 3 point shooters, the route I'm sure you probably prefer.Agree, team would be much better off with a Shai Gilgeous-Alexander type instead of Loyer.
Nope, you nailed it. Maybe Ivey can petition to use his remaining eligibility if he’s healthy.Or we could just keep loading up an unathletic, spot up 3 point shooters, the route I'm sure you probably prefer.
No, your sarcasm has me convinced. Unathletic spot up shooters are the way to go. Just look at the all the final four starting lineups. They’re littered with loyer clones. To me, you’ve displayed a complete lack of basketball knowledge, but I’m not out here making a big deal about it.Nope, you nailed it. I’m just busting your balls. I actually agree that a more athletic 2/3 option via the portal would be very helpful, but calling Loyer meh just shows a fundamental lack of knowledge or understanding.
Shocking that you think the way to go is for Purdue to follow what SEC schools and Houston are doing. No, your sarcasm has me convinced. Unathletic spot up shooters are the way to go. Why am I not surprised you find it shocking I want us to emulate schools that are constantly making deep runs who also recruit highly rated guys? Our incoming class next year(not including portal) consists of one unrated 3 star. Not going to cut it if we want to win a championship.Shocking that you think the way to go is for Purdue to follow what SEC schools and Houston are doing.
I agree with you, John….For once 😂Why am I not surprised you find it shocking I want us to emulate schools that are constantly making deep runs and recruit highly rated guys?
Agree that unrated three stars suck and don't get it done. Just ask Zach and Braden. Why am I not surprised you find it shocking I want us to emulate schools that are constantly making deep runs who also recruit highly rated guys? You're right. I don't think we should even bother trying with 4 or 5 stars. Those are for all the loserAgree that unrated three stars suck and don't get it done. Just ask Zach and Braden.
Do you actually pay attention to college basketball at all? How many starters for Florida and Auburn were four-star recruits or better coming out of high school? You're right. I don't think we should even bother trying with 4 or 5 stars. Those are for all the loser
SEC teams, Duke, and Houston. Amirite?
Are you really trying to compare our recruiting to Florida and Auburn? And you're asking if I pay attention? LOLDo you actually pay attention to college basketball at all? How many starters for Florida and Auburn were four-star recruits or better coming out of high school?
BTW, Purdue lands four star guys all the time and when Painter identifies a three star like West as an A list guy, his record is pretty damn good.
Recap:Are you really trying to compare our recruiting to Florida and Auburn? And you're asking if I pay attention? LOL
Fair enough. In the words of Irwin M. Fletcher: Why don't you two go down to the gym and pump each other?
Florida and auburn recruit highly sought after guys out of the portal portal combined with a higher level of recruit out of high school. There isn’t really much comparison.Recap:
Jdb123 - three star recruits suck, that will never get it done
NS - yeah, like Edey and Braden
Jdb123 - yeah, well you need four and five stars to win
NS - how many four and five stars start for Florida and Auburn combined? (spoiler, one total 4 star, 0 five stars) + Purdue has a bunch of four-star players
Jdb123 - I really don't like the answer to that, so I'm going to try to change the subject as smoke comes off of the hampster wheel
I saw Colvin entered the portal. Re-calculateI think we are all on the same page - Loyer will 100 percent start. That is a given. Depending on how each game plays out - you can almost tell from the first 10 minutes of each game - maybe he only plays 25 minutes, maybe less. I expect Colvin to be very good next year - we finally saw some flashes of how good he can be.
It is going to be interesting watching us fight with the Kentuckys of the world in the transfer portal.UK may have entered the mix for Cluff…
