On Wisconsin

I hear you. If they lose both (doubtful) they will be tied with Purdue in losses to Iowa.

FYI "ME" stands for "mechanical engineering" not "masters"...I think you incorrectly alluded to such in a prior post.
I hope it comes in handy when you tear down the fryer tonight.

Really? Without Yogi that team is horrible
You realize that was a sub .500 team in conference that completely took IU out of their game? Right?.

No kidding. Loosiers will struggle next year. That game kind of reminded me of us getting blown out at Illinois...a sub .500 team in conference that completely took us out of our game.

Without Johnny Hill we are going to be in trouble next year.

You said we had no wins that IU would want. I simply shared one I figure they would. I'm not sure what Illinois has to do with it.

We still will have PJ with more experience and if Edwards can transition quickly, that will be huge for us.

We will have Weatherford too, but not sure how much he will even play.

Ok. I am not sure I get the correlation between mechanical engineering and fast food...but Boiler Up anyways I guess!

1,2,3,4...first down b****!!! (in the spirit of our fellow 22,000 Purdue football fans that still remain... faux backhand slap to imaginary female).

Come on now, you know they all had the flu. They were all tired from finals a month ago. The air conditioning was too loud the night before and they didn't get any sleep. The sun was in their eyes. The refs are against IU because of Bob Knight. It's George Bush's fault.

Point is, it was the same old Two Tone McClappyson....terrible sub pattern, no discipline for bad play, swig and pace strategy (we all knew it would come back)...and once again Yogi proves at the end of a close game, many times he's going to push the limits and take shots and make bad passes that will cost IU the game.

Dan Dakich's best PG in the college game today had 4 turnover's and one assist last night.
Well, TD2 nice to see you again. You were laying low the last 12 games. IU is 7-1, and I for one am ok with that. 13-5 is attainable and that Is where I believe IU ends up. IU lost in OT, on the road, it happens. Yogi played a great game and you Broilees would take him in a second (oh, Ronnie Johnson is better, per you). IU lost their seconde leading scorer/rebounder in JBJr, and have compensated well, winning 7 out of 8.

Broilees versus IU will be a great game, and I am looking forward to it.

I am afraid you are making a valid point here. We usually blame:
  1. The officials
  2. Painter's coaching
  3. Player X - who ever some of the posters decide is the weakest link in the team.
We rarely acknowledge that the opponent played a great game and "won" the game. It is usually that we "lost" the game. I was pulling for you guys. Can't stand Wisconsin in any sport. Too bad.

:cool:
By "WE" I assume you mean those on this board that only show up after losses.

Correct. Lots of whining by those who only post after a loss. Our board has about half as many of these ninnies as Peegs, so it is not too bad.

Boiler up!

Not that it matters to most of you but IU will have Josh Newkirk next year, a Pitt transfer who sat out this season. I recall that he scored 16 against IU in the Big 10-Acc challenge game in 2014. I expect him to take Yogi's slot, although there will likely be some unknown drop off in scoring.

Before any of you chowderheads claim to have seen him in practice this season and that he's just a leftover, he's also recovering from injury from before he even signed with IU. I don't know how
good or weak he will be. Maybe most of you should concentrate on winning the next big Powerball Jackpot and quitting your day job since you all
seem to be so prescient about everything

I don't care who IU has next year as long as they have Tommy. I look forward to fewer visitations from the uber knowledgeable Loosier fan base as the approaching descent in B1G rankings unfolds.

I've seen Newkirk play many times (wife is Pitt grad). He is a good player, but if you are expecting him to be similar to Yogi (with a scoring dropoff), you will be disappointed.

Any decent player scoring only 16 points against IU in 2014 disqualifies them as being a decent player. Sounds below average.

Was Blackmon guarding him? Because I heard Tom Crean scored 18 on him in a pickup game last year and we've seen Crean shoot.

Newkirk didn't start that game for Pitt so I don't know who was
supposed to be guarding him for that game. It could have
been Yogi, Blackmon, Robert Johnson, Zeisloft and/or Stanford Robinson, based on playing time shown in the boxscore. I
also don't remember if IU played any zone that game against him. Regardless, IU still won that Pitt game by 12.

Bryant will stay. RJ , Hartman , OG , Morgan and transfer Newkirk return along with a solid recruiting class including 6-11 Davis to help inside and Curtis Jones to help the perimeter. Not exactly bare. I would be more worried about Biggie, Davis and Hammons leaving.
We are redundant at every position and I doubt Biggie leaves just yet. Purdue is the least likely team to be damaged by its grad losses. For the record I doubt Bryant goes either.

Bryant will be back unless he's getting some bad advice. He has ability but is still pretty raw and has yet to fully mature physically. Not sure how much big man development will happen where he is but he's not ready for the league just yet.

Swanigan is going nowhere. He's great at rebounding, but is inconsistent and sloppy with pretty much the rest of his game. And that's not some bash on him, freshmen big guys don't routinely step in and excel. And he's also young for his age. But anyone talking about him "going pro" is clueless (and that's a reference not to you, but who you responded to).

IU has a hard time stoping teams that take the ball to the basket against them. Happ and Hayes looked like All Americans. We need to Pound it inside against them.

If you want to see Purdue have the season you were all hoping for, you need to pound it inside against every team.

We aren't supposed to talk about players going Pro or not, remember??

See, it's hard to resist when the subject comes up. For the record, I couldn't agree more with your assessment.

No one other than some fans think Caleb is not coming back.
I get it. He's not going anywhere.

It was just a little fun jab at Ibodel. He normally doesn't like the discussions about players leaving early. Even he couldn't resist :)

You Loosiers sure are rocket scientists. IU's BIG standing is a mirage and here's why:

IU (7-1 in BIG)
@ RUTG 0-8 W
@ NEB 4-4 W
WISC 4-4 W
OSU 6-3 W
@MINN 0-9 W
ILL 2-6 W
NW 3-6 W
@ WISC 4-4 L
So far, IU's BIG opponents are a combined 23-44 (.343). WOW, that's a tough schedule.

Purdue (6-3 in BIG)
@ WISC 4-4 W
IOWA 7-1 L
MICH 6-2 W
@ILL 2-6 L
PSU 2-6 W
@RUTG 0-8 W
OSU 6-3 W
@IOWA 7-1 L
@MINN 0-9 W
So far, Purdue's BIG opponents are a combined 34-40 (.459). If you want to compare the first eight games only (same number of games IU's played in conference), Purdue's opponents are 34-31 (.523). Quite a bit more respectable. IU has only played one game against an opponent with a BIG record above .500 - OSU. Purdue has played 4, and 2 of those were against #3 ranked Iowa.

Going a little deeper:
IU #23 per KenPom with an overall SOS of 172
Purdue #13 per KenPom with an overall SOS of 70

IU has losses (per KenPom) to:
DUKE 18
WISC 59
UNLV 64
WAKE 114

Purdue has losses (per KenPom) to:
IOWA 2
IOWA 2
BUTL 38
ILL 126

IU has wins (in KenPom Top100) over:
CREI 34
ND 35
NEB 93
NW 97

Purdue has wins (in KenPom Top 100) over:
FLA 26
MICH 29
VANDY 31
PITT 54
WISC 59
OSU 65

By the numbers, there's no comparison. IU has played a crappy schedule overall and just like Northwestern has already, they're about to get a reality check.
