Purdue didn't lose the game because of that call, and Iowa had some that didn't go their way too.I don't know if the refs saw every TV angle but Klines pinky may have been on the ball. It certainly wasn't "clear".
I guess the refs never took a basic physics class in their life. Common sense should have prevailed there. If you can't get that replay review right, you shouldn't be officiating these games. Borowski is a moron and the others had no balls to overrule him since he's the jackass veteran. How could they honestly not believe that ball was off Cook?Purdue didn't lose the game because of that call, and Iowa had some that didn't go their way too.
However, there is no way Cline's "pinky" would have poked the ball with that speed and trajectory out of bounds. Cook hit it. The refs just didn't have the balls to over turn it since there was not a perfect camera angle.
They need to adopt the MLB/NHL policy where reviews are made off site.I guess the refs never took a basic physics class in their life. Common sense should have prevailed there. Absolutely...as failing to do so, their is confirmation bias that plays a part in the review as a guy goes to the monitor believing that they got the call right and not looking to overturn it...only way they will is if there is clear evidence, and even in those cases, they still are reluctant (as was the case last night). They need to adopt the MLB/NHL policy where reviews are made off site.
I truly try and avoid calling out refs, but I have found myself doing it more and more this season because of the sheer inconsistency in how they call games.Absolutely...as failing to do so, their is confirmation bias that plays a part in the review as a guy goes to the monitor believing that they got the call right and not looking to overturn it...only way they will is if there is clear evidence, and even in those cases, they still are reluctant (as was the case last night).
It was a bad call...compounded by a failure to overturn it...but it was yet another crew that was anything but stellar, so neither comes as a big surprise of any sort.

That said, that debacle last night was something else.
He did not get fired, though he was involved in a scandal when he illegally accessed his own future game assignments (for what purpose you can guess, mine is point shaving). I've always believed he was a point shaver and he is consistently in the lower level of performance (sometimes bottom 10) by the ncaa's own metrics.I thought Bo got fired for some kind of shadiness (beyond screwing up games with his incompetence).
They could have called a jump ball but chose not to do it.
I don't recall who was next on possession and surpriseingly I thought Boroski wasn't that bad.Interesting Heller.....that hadn't occurred to me....who had the possession arrow?
I know you must have been ambivalent about Bo "walking away" from the monitor.....
the record is 8-7, but 0-3 the last three games. Keep in mind our overall winning percentage is much higher so he is certainly way below the norm.Fran and Putin are really tight. Who knew?
Clearly, the Russians hacked the replay monitor. There is no other plausible explanation.
Oh wait, maybe it is BO FREAKIN BOROSKI. Does anyone know Purdue's all-time record with him reffing our games? I has to be .500 or less.
This game and the Villanova debacle a few years ago when Boroski called a horseshit foul by the bench against DJ Byrd, sending Ryan Arcidiacono to the foul line. It ended up totally changing the outcome of the game.the record is 8-7, but 0-3 the last three games. Keep in mind our overall winning percentage is much higher so he is certainly way below the norm.

Here's the real question....should the team have allowed Iowa to be in that position where it mattered that much?
I think inconclusive? Would be hard to tell on a 13" monitor

Yes he was.Of course cook hit it, but that doesn't mean he was the last to touch it.
Bingo! I believe that is still in the rule book when officials can't agree on what occurred. I guess all 3 were in agreement but, a jump ball made more sense to me. Don't know then if goes to the arrow or an actual jump. That said, that call is NOT what beat us.They could have called a jump ball but chose not to do it.
This baffled me more than the obvious blown OB call. I think Dakota would be awesome at this move. Pull up at foul line pump fake shot to yourself and drive for the layup.I'm still trying to understand how you can't throw a pass to you self but you can throw up an airball, move, catch it yourself without it being touched by any other player and shoot again without it being a travel call.
The broadcasters said Borowski came over during the following break and told them something to the effect that he's only made that call one other time in his career.. I was like no crap, because that sort of thing is usually called a travel!I'm still trying to understand how you can't throw a pass to you self but you can throw up an airball, move, catch it yourself without it being touched by any other player and shoot again without it being a travel call.
