Omer Mayer has committed

I don't think some of you truly understand how good this kid is. He's 19 and plays impactful, productive minutes in the 2nd best basketball league on the planet (2nd only to the NBA). This is equivalent of getting a 5 star HS recruit. He's 6'4", has a B1G ten body, walks in as our 2nd best ball handler and passer, and his best attribute is his shooting. Of course he will start and play the 3rd or 4th most minutes per game on the team. Incredible pick up by Painter and his staff!
Hope you’re right. But let’s see how he adjusts to painters system, and how quick he picks up both sides of the schemes first.

I doubted the starting day one talk because I have heard that before with Colvin and others. But, someone said the league he plays in is the best in Europe, a step below the NBA, true? That would elevate his chances to start day one in my eyes. Someone else said that league does not play defense ( I did not see much in the videos). True?? Painter values defense. Start or not the kid looks like he will contribute in a meaningful way.

Mayer will be starting, game one. If you watch even a few seconds of footage, you can figure this out. He plays super hard and can create his own shot, something we have missed for some time.
Hard to disagree, but, at the same time, I think that Cox plays a key role in the starting lineup with his pressure defense. I don’t think this happens, but perhaps Loyer becomes the first player off the bench, still playing big minutes.

Was he joking?! 😂 😂
I believe eastern and Painter have a very good relationship painter was very upset when eastern left. Didn’t eastern return to play for the men of Mackies? Isn’t eastern playing pro somewhere. If nothing else eastern can tell him about the mistakes he made and how he is dong now.

Sometimes a guy who didn’t make it big time can become a great influence on others! Eugene Parker and Walter Jordan were great players. Parker got a trial with the spurs. Jordan was given a shot. They didn’t make it. But parker became a very sports agent. And Jordan also became successful. And now Sasha is following their lead.

Sometimes the best advice comes from people who have made mistakes!

Usually see this at the end of a close game when it becomes a free throw shooting contest and you can more freely substitute.
He played the offense/defense game with TKR to keep him out of foul trouble and with Loyer to put Cox or Harris in for pressure defense quite a bit at the end of the season.

Can't do it every possession unless there is a foul but he will have the chance to sub freely if he chooses.

This is not baseball 😂
How well I know that DP. All I'm saying is that it's possible with the right players, and it appears as if he has that kind of talent this coming year. He has two or three at every position and knowing that Cox and Harris are going to be a lot better, the Meyer kid, and the kid from Florida, with Cluff, and our post player recovered, and with TKR he could conceivably have two teams that could play without losing much, if any.

Tel Aviv Maccabi is a very good Euro team that has won several Champions. Former NBA coach (Cavs) David Blatt coached them for several years and even won a Euro championship with Maccabi. They have 6 Euro titles, in Europe, they have a tourney we several teams per a league play in and Macabi has won 6 titles in the Tourney.

Some of their former players to make the NBA include Anthony Parker (yes Candace's brother, lol), Jordan Farmer, Omri Casspi, Dragon Bender, and Deni Avdija.

So for sure its a legit big time Euro, program, the fact this kid played for them as an under 18 player shows allot of promise. I am a bit surprised he didnt try and play another year then go pro, but maybe he sees another path for himself and maybe the war going on over there as played a part.

Iowa state at home
Auburn in Indy
At bama

Plus an in season tourney. Wish it could be the one in Vegas for NIL money, but maybe Battle 4 Atlantis or something.

And I assume some decent mid majors
Nvm on Atlantis…what a sad field:

For the mid majors, Saw we play Kent state at Mackey on Dec 29

Maui has awful field this year too: Weakest field I can ever remember:

Arizona St
Boise St
Chaminade
NC state
Seton Hall
Texas
USC
Washington State
It's because now we have all of these MTEs that pay actual money. Maui and the other bigger early season tournaments are going to get weaker and weaker.

Yeah that one in Vegas is expanding from 8 teams to 16(?) or is is 32? Soon that will turn into being an in season March Madness tournament where kids will want to play cuz the winner gets paid out.

Exploding bags of cash come cascading out of the rafters at the end of the championship game!

Great post. Kid is a big-time prospect with a ton of high-level experience. Anyone saying otherwise is either trolling or misinformed. I don't know if he'll start, as others have said, it will in part depend upon how quickly he picks up on Purdue's offensive and defensive systems, but this is a huge, huge pickup.

Adding Omer and West to a backcourt with a bunch of really good underclassmen already is really exciting.

I'm just surprised at how quickly Maui went south. That field is plain awful for that tournament.

Where is PU going??

I read that.....and then watched some eye popping video. Amazing.

Just wondering and hope he's can use that length and quickness on D. Needed.
