Could you imagine

I am not crazy about that starting lineup. More quickness is needed. Cox is a better fit than Barnhizer with the other 4 imo. Would love Barnhizer on the roster though, backing up both TKR and Loyer.

He only really played 8. Unless you count Berg would didn't play in a 1/3 of the games, and Burgess who played in a staggering 6 mins a game
If Berg had Cluff skill set he would have played a lot more and Burgess was injured most of the Big Ten season (Shin Splints). No Injuries and improved skillset, he would play 10

it would be tremendous to have guys come out and give 100% of their defensive energy knowing they will get a break by an equally quality resource who will give 100% intensity. Then rotate throughout the game so you have a fresh team at the end of the game.

After the disaster officiating in the three Final Four games one wonders if some emphasis on the how to call the games in 2026 will be in line for next season. The crews certainly didn't or wouldn't call the games correctly!

Playing 10 guys is unnecessary
Going off what you’re saying I really don’t understand the reasoning behind increasing scholarship limits to 15. 13 was already plenty. Seems like the only thing it will do is hurt the smaller schools by allowing the big schools to hoard more talent. Just doesn’t make sense to me.

Not if it lets you play at 100% intensity for 40 minutes. Several of the teams that gave us hard times played 10 guys against us. And kept the energy and intensity ramped up.
You didn't see tired guys on the floor for Purdue this year? At times? I sure did.
8 was not quite enough.
And not if your starting guys getting overmatched at times by super quick and long defenders. If only we had a couple of OTHER guards that are really tight defensively and could pressure full court at full intensity those opposing guards and help wear THEM out so they can't dog on Braden and Fletch so much.
Oh wait, we DO.....
DJ/Cluff
TRK/Burgess
Transfer and Benter and West and it seems highly likely that Matt really may have a 10 deep.
We may find out if he's got it in him.

Looks like Waddell is still in the portal. Any chance he comes back as there could be a path to playing time with Heide and Colvin gone?

6'7" wing with handles.

I would guess the parting was mutual, so I’d be surprised if he comes back. Unlike Heide who I think would’ve been able to come back. Also, not seeing any path to playing time, talent just isn’t there imo. Waddell might even have to go down a division if he wants a scholarship.

Not if you have 10 guys who can ball - every year is different - I know Painter usually shortens the bench but this is gonna be our year and getting more guys playing time may be beneficial in a few games and in the tourney
Loved it 2 years ago preseason when Painter substituted 5 like a line change…

8 is plenty if they come in and contribute: make shots, rebound and play solid D. Also, most good teams have one or two subs who have scored in the high teens or even twenties a few times each season. Being able to contribute more than what our subs did this year allows more rest for the starters. No 30 second rests.

We played 8 mostly. It was not enough. We DID have tired players on the floor at times.
