Italy dominates first set from start to finish winning 18-25. Annie playing ok but some of her teammates are not (Stanford’s Plummer is something like 2 for 12. She will have to be better.)

Italy wins second set 20-25. USA fighting for its life. Needs more offense and its stars to play much better. USA hitting only 0.183 with no blocks vs Italy's 0.400.

Italy completely dominates USA in 3rd set 17-25 and wins the gold. Not Annie's best match and easily outperformed by Italy's opposite Egonu, who was almost unstoppable. All credit to the Italian women who have never even played in an Olympic medal game before. They were the favorite for gold and demonstrated why.

Italy was clearly the superior team and earned the gold. The US team can hold their heads high. They overcame up-and-down group play to take home the silver. No shame in that.
