Oil Production

Totally understand but what is the alternative? I think we should be doing everything. Advances in technology have reduced smog and air pollution which is good for everyone. I remember LA was terrible in the summer due to smog and acid rain was a big deal in the north east. Now these problems have been reduced through innovation.

In Kauai it’s pretty nice to see the power plant not use as much oil as it once did when there’s a cleaner and cheaper alternative. For the record I own Exxon and Chevron stock and like low cost abundant energy
I think that we are going to find out that to go full "green" that the environmental impact of all the mining, ore stripping, etc will be a much greater than fossil fuel use. Not to mention all of the land that will be lost and unusable for food production, etc. Wouldn't surprise me one bit to see "forests" of rundown windmills that are no longer viable and cost too much to remove.

Because renewables are far too unreliable. They require massive footprints for minimal energy production. Something has to fill the gaps when they aren't running too. It's just not possible to go full renewable (other than nuclear or hydro). I get that nuclear isn't renewable, but it's green in the sense of non carbon. Funny that the goal is to stop producing C02, yet our most viable option is off the table. This is what stupidity looks like.
Then I guess you'd better get on the horn with the German government and let them know their plan won't work. Clearly, they haven't though it through.

This is not a partisan issue, even though everyone wants to make it one. Check the OP's link. Over the past decade, US oil production is through the roof due to fracking (not because of Trump or Biden). In 2020, oil demand plummeted because of Covid and prices tanked (not because of Trump or Biden). In 2021, a job shortage left oil producers unable to run at full capacity as oil demand ticked back up (not because of Trump or Biden). US oil prodution is as high as it's ever been in history prior to 2018.

If oil producers are not running at full capacity with the oil fields they already developed, then it doesn't matter if there are federal areas for them to develop. Republicans are just trying to score political points.

No, Biden had little to no part in the supply drop issue with Covid. But again, I'll argue and ask, why should oil producers invest capital in additional capacity when the Biden administration has clearly stated their goal is to quickly reduce dependency on fossil fuels? It's Biden's position against fossil fuels that has been one of the clear reasons why supply hasn't increased since the pandemic. And that's why some Republicans are blaming Biden for this lack of supply recovery. Now Biden's in a panic trying to increase oil supply because things are looking grim for Democrats in the mid-terms. And big oil isn't listening. And why should they?

It's also extremely hypocritical that Biden lifted sanctions on Nord Stream II based on his position in the US. You know, essentially endorsing some of the dirtiest fossil fuel production on the planet, while he limits production by some of the cleanest production in the world at home.
