Refs have been helping Northwestern all game, of course they decide the game at the end.
The penalty had to be called. Neal with a bone head throw down after it was blown dead.Refs have been helping Northwestern all game, of course they decide the game at the end.
The concern I have is the players who played so poorly. We can’t have our starting quarterback and Captain playing like that. I just watched the replay of Lorenzo‘s tackle and he was actually stripping the ball at the time. What else was he supposed to do? The refs let things go all game and then they chose to make that call at that point in time. Just very inconsistent on their partCan’t play stupid. We played stupid.
It was 100% a flop. Thorsen tried it but the ref chuckled at himThe concern I have is the players who played so poorly. We can’t have our starting quarterback and Captain playing like that. The announcers kept saying throwdown, but he did not throw him down. He threw him backwards if anything, and then he fell. It can't be a throwdown if his arms remain parallel to the ground - that's a throwback..The penalty had to be called. Neal with a bone head throw down after it was blown dead.

Throwdown, throwback, throwup ...... make an overly aggressive move at the end of a play and it's gonna be flagged. A celebrated play 20 years ago will cost you today. The announcers kept saying throwdown, but he did not throw him down. He threw him backwards if anything, and then he fell. I agree.. I wasn't trying to argue that it wasn't a penalty really.. Thats up to the refs and the league. I was just saying I thought it was stupid that the announcers kept making a big deal out of "throwing him down" like it was with some sort of malicious intent, whereas the guy moreso fell down from the momentum the Purdue player imparted on him.Throwdown, throwback, throw
