Nojel Eastern is key going forward....

Ms Reed, Don't get riled. Most here are 100% in the sphere with you. There will always be some comments that seem to dig or nitpick. I think you have done a good job of resisting them lately and if I was in the same place you are, I would give the glare also. Now let's team-take those Wolverines down today.
Point well taken that trophy going back to West Lafayette it’s game time

Does he have an occasional turnover or take an ill-advised shot every couple games? Maybe. But tell me a player on the team that doesn't. I think some here hold him to a higher standard because he is a freshman which is probably exactly the opposite of what we should do.

I love Nojel, but his free throw shooting makes it difficult to have him on the floor at crunch time.
Having said that, we had three other guys miss free throws in crunch time yesterday, so it may be a risk we are willing to take.

You are right and until he can hit FTs constantly than he won’t be in game at crunch time I understand that so does my son. Still does not negate all of the good things he brings to this team. It will get corrected but right now just gotta live with that 1 flaw in his game but he gives this team a chance to make it to the final 4.

I want Abdur Rahkman to get marooned on Eastern Island tomorrow.

+1. Abdur Rahkman seems to go off against us every single time. He's a Boiler killer.
In two consecutive games a 10-point player has gone off (Baker with 25 and Shep with 33.). Rachman has already done this during the season so hopefully Mathias and Eastern can put the clamps on him today.

Agree with you on every point. Nojel has positively affected numerous games with incredible defense, rebounding, timely buckets, and vision. He is very special, and I can’t wait to see what the next three years for the young man.
On a side note, he is very well-spoken. He looks interviewers in the eye and gives very thoughtful answers. Good job!

I agree. I don’t agree your son is helping the seniors win a title however. Your son is part of the team too and the title will be as much his anyone else’s.

It is obvious that Purdue has turned a corner in recruiting great athletes who are also good students and good people. Nojel, Carsen and Haarms are great examples. I look forward to Williams, Hunter and Dow as those who will be passed the torch from a great Senior class and I am convinced that we will see Purdue in FF conversations in the near seasons to come.

I hold him to a lesser standard because he is a freshman. I see moments where his potential stands out, and I see moments where his rawness as a freshman stands out. Maybe I've coached too many freshmen in my life to get excited about them. And I hope he contributes as much as he can, just as I do all those on the team.

I'm guessing by watching your son, he's had free throw problems for a long time. They don't just crop up. Why hasn't that issue been corrected by now....and I know there are some players who struggle with that part of the game.

No he hasn’t actually go you tube some of his games wasn’t shooting like this. Lost confidence tried fixing it on his own crested bad habits and now it’s were he has mentally lost it and he is changed it all together which is fixable this I no. Was getting better when he came home but not a lot of time in the day to help him with it so now he just needs to get through the season than when season is over with after purdue wins that national championship it would be corrected he’ll have more time working with this shooting coach to get it right.

Let's hope he figures it out. But then, Shaq made a fortune and couldn't hit a free throw with a step ladder.

Let me put it to you this way Ben Simmons who played at LSU didn’t shoot much at all if any and he’s in the NBA. Simmons steal font shoot the ball but he can do so much more that you can over look that. Nojel is a basketball player than can defend and play 4 positions at 6”7 at 223 pounds. He’s athletic, fast can handle the ball make plays see the floor can pass can do a lot kinda like Simmons and he is in the league. We both no the problem and it will get addressed once season is over with.

Is making the league the ultimate goal, or is helping PU win a National title the ultimate goal? If Nojel has a great year next season, will he stay or will he go? And by the way, what I like most about your kid is that he appears so far to be a pass first...help the team kind of player.

Purdue is much better with Eastern on the floor than with PJ. The rebounding and defensive liabilities go away, and you have four scoring options on the other that you don't need to him to do anything other than facilitate and go after boards on the offensive end. He should probably get Eifert's minutes too if he's going to be used off the bench.

How did PU go 16-0 with PJ on the court? Must have been a miracle. DWS
