We haven't had a guy that can create his own shot in years. When was the last time we had a player like Malcolm Hill or Nunn. Etwaun could to some extent but wasn't an elite athlete that could create. I like Swanigan and realize he is a freshmen but he's a turnover machine. Our supposed great shooters are average at best. With what was suppose to be a great season I can see this team being a 6 or 7 seed in the tournament. Can't win if your best player is a 7 footer. We will get zoned and just like Butler and tonight we won't win. The life of a Boilermaker fan.

I'm pissed about this team right now but slow down there buddy. You pretty much just said that both Kendrick Nunn and Malcolm Hill are better than E'twaun Moore was. That is more bullshit than the play of this Purdue team right now.

You will be disparaged on here as a troll due to your first post coming after a loss, but this is a point worth consideration. To me there are some significant questions about Painter that are in process of being answered. One of which is in regards to his ceiling.. Is he simply a good coach who can take average-to-good talent and make them into a good team, or can he also with his style and his system be a coach that takes very good players and molds them into a great team? I think the answer to that question is correlated to the development of star guards in a guard oriented game.

Some truth to the OP's statement. We don't have a go to guy. Guard play is what wins in March, year in and year out. Who will we go to in a close game? Oh wait, it might not matter when .500 clubs like Illinois are whipping us.

We've seen Painter's ceiling. Sweet 16. He is not a championship coach. Not in his recruiting (which has improved but still leaves a lot to be desired) and not with his strategy or lackthereof. He is mediocre to the core, and the majority seem fine with that. I know Burke sure is ok with that, but wasn't happy with back to back bowl appearances by Hope for little $, which still baffles me.

I think Edwards could be a one on one go to guy, if the middle wasn't always clogged up .
He "could" be, but he has not been...and while the lane is clogged at times and limits that, he has missed multiple shots at the rim or from close range in the past three games and has been virtually invisible for the better part of the past three weeks unfortunately...not exactly a ringing endorsement as "the go-to guy".

I am looking at his ball handling, and taking the ball to the rim, you are correct about his shooting, I feel he is a better player than what we have seen this year. Just felt of the whole team, he would be the one who might have one on one ability.

Edwards is the guy on this team that has the best ability to create own shot. Need him to consistently do it. He was the one I was looking forward to the most this year. From Painter saying he was most improved to GBI reports over the summer to really liking him last year. We need him to be good for us to reach where we want to go

I don't disagree that he looks the part and seemingly could the "that" guy, but to date, this year especially, he has not come close to showing that he is capable of it...which is more troublesome (and disappointing to be honest) given that he was moved to what seemingly was his natural/best position with Swanigan's arrival. Again, things get clogged in the lane (for a handful of reasons for that matter), but even when they are not clogged, Vince has missed multiple bunny shots and been anything but dominant despite what appear to be physically advantageous matchups.

We do have a goto guy. The other team. What was all the hype about this preseason? This team hasn't improved a single bit from last year shooting or anything else. If anything they have significantly declined in just about all areas of the game with the sole exception of free-throw shooting. What did they do this offseason? Is it too much to ask for a little improvement after 3 years of games and practice. I just do not understand a team like this which gets worse from one year to the next. Purdue is not a good basketball team. This is an overrated average team that is not worth more than a 7 seed at best and probably out after game 1, this team is not even making sweet 16 on their best day.
