I think most fans can agree that what has been going on with the football program is unacceptable. If you haven't heard by now, Daniels is trying to raise $2.019 billion by 2019 for the university. Who feels like showing the administration that we, as fans, wont be taken advantage of anymore until they decide to take athletics seriously? My suggestion:

#NoBowlNoBillions

Tell your friends, tell your family, tell every Purdue person you know. Do not donate one dollar to the school until we reach our next bowl game. Make the administration prove to us that they are listening and actually care about us fans because up to this point it seems like they certainly don't. Personally, I think we have the power to do this but it will take all of us together. Remember this isn't about stiffing the university but rather making them prove to us that they will take us, and Purdue Athletics, seriously. I believe reaching a bowl by 2019 is a realistic goal.

There was an article on NYT a few days ago about Alabama and how the "tide lifts all boats" for them. With the football team's success, Alabama has been going after the top students in academic areas too -- and largely succeeding.

I recommend our BOT and Mitch read that article and understand the importance of college athletics in the 21st century.

I love this idea. I only give to athletics anyway because the school has a history of just stealing from the AD when they need money. But the next time someone from the school calls and would like a "quick donation of $600 today", I will use the no bowl no billions line.

Mitch does not get it. But that is not the worst thing Mitch does not get. With his "Higher education at the highest proven value" campaign he is doing to the rest of Purdue what Burke did to the football program.

There have to be major donors who are holding back their gift until the University does something with football. My guess is that this has already transpired or Mitch and the trustees would not have committed to the new football building. It is not fun to be Swimmer AD Burke right now and I would imagine that Mitch is running into angry football supporters as well. That Burke is now hiding during football games strongly suggests the environment has become rather hostile.

Funny, but I interact with lots of Lilly folks with my work in Indy. Mitch certainly was no-nonsense in his time at Lilly, and he would not have allowed the company to underinvest in a major business line with a strong ROI. I cannot see why he and the trustees have allowed Burke to do so here.

I agree. Mitch Daniels is a no-nonsense kind of guy and why he's willing to tolerate the football train wreck is baffling. Time for him to get rid of Burke and subsequently the football coaching staff - now. Don't give these guys another year.

Mitch Daniels doesn't understand any of the previously discussed themes because he is a moron that doesn't understand cause and effect. Granted my perspective is as a Purdue Mathematician that has taught high school math in the state for 31 years. This isn't political - I'm a conservative - but Mitch is on track to do to Purdue what he has done to K12 public education in Indiana.

This is a great idea!!! Let's quit donating to all of the academic programs, scholarship funds, research activities at Purdue to show them that we mean business with the football program. I don't care at all about research for ending cancer or helping low income, first generation Indiana kids go to college or maintaining strong academic programs at Purdue. I mean, maybe a little bit, but at the end of the day football is way more important than these things and I agree that the nuclear option is the only way to go to prove our point. And besides, after we engage the nuclear option and harm everything at the university, they will get the message, divert what remaining funds we have to fix the football program, and the whole university will end up rising to the top as a result. This is clearly the only reasonable, intelligent path to the top for Purdue!!
