Nice Recognition for Eastern

Even though Eastern is a PG, it is still nice national recognition for Eastern. Check out #9 on this list below. Going to be a big year for him this year!

They overlook his PG skills bcuz u don’t see a player that size handle the ball like he does pass like he does do the things that PGs do at that size. He did lead the team in rebounding he had 4 double double he liocked down almost every player he defended no matter what position he guarded so when u look at a PG u don’t see him as that bcuz of his unusual size Length strength athleticism and speed not something I will see in college or in the NBA however u take the compliment when they come and appreciate them. Still much work is to be done but he’s getting it done and this season he’ll get his chance to show he’s more than just a rebounder defender he’ll show more of his offensive game now that he’ll have more opportunities to score in many many ways.

Treed, we have seen this troll before. He is also posting in the IU board. Just trying to be disruptive to both groups.
You have? The only sports forums I have ever posted on are ESPNs and peegs back during the sampson debacle. Never called a troll before. Thanks, I guess.
I hope you come in peace talking college hoops I’m not about anything negative. Let’s keep things civil

Are you related to him Treed1967?
I’ve read a few of ur posts and I’m not sure ur motive whether u hear to be negative or just want to be mean spirited about Purdue basketball and some of the players plz don’t bring that hear it’s totally unnecessary don’t u think. Purdue may not have a national championship but it’s coming. The past is the past the athletics future looks very bright. If ur a fan of another team that’s cool great debates are welcomed but plz let’s not bring negative energy to this forum we can all have difference of opinions and that’s ok but I sure hope ur intentions are in good faith and not to start fights bringing negative energy to this free board.

As much technology there is in the world, why can’t losers that post on here can’t be tracked and banned. I would think it would be very easy. I am sure they have been fired from their work before for getting on a porn site.

That is an odd list. While I love the recognition for Eastern (which is much deserved), that list has a lot of non-small forwards on it. I am curious what their criteria were for them to be a small forward (aka three spot)? Precious Achiuwa is a hyper-athletic 4; Saddiq Bey is an undersized 4 (as we saw against Purdue last year); Livers and Langford play the 3 in three guard offenses; Anthony Lamb is a 2-guard all day; and Yoeli Childs plays on the block. I sometimes wonder if analysts pull a group of names they know rather than analyzing how they actually play. (Steps off his soapbox)

You conclude with "he'll have more opportunities to score in many many ways." I hope that includes scoring from the free throw line.

Can you elaborate? I’m not following.
If you mean driving to get fouled then yes, he has shown that ability already. If you mean hit free throws, he has shown that ability as well.

All true. Without Nojel's development in both aspects of his game, Purdue would not have been in an overtime Elite 8 game with the national champs.

????? Were you not around last season when he turned around his free throw shooting? Nojel made coaches who tried fouling him at the end of games look stupid....And again I use Izzo as an example.

I’m not sure what he meant either but to clarify for that poster he will be making FTs too and FT form is better too putting in work on his whole game. His offensive game with more scoring opportunities now will be put on display this season.

nojel's shooting percentage would go up considerably if he would actually shoot it. most of the time around the rim it looks like he's just flipping the ball toward the back board.
peace

Nice to see people taking note of NE...
nonetheless, even though I was intellectually aware of the stat, there is just something jarring to actually read an article stating "..but there is concern about his shooting, as he failed to make a single 3-point jumper last year. "
Jarring to say the least i get it and probably seems of some concerns I get that too. What so many don’t know not shooting verses can’t shoot are vastly 2 different things he didn’t shoot bcuz he lacked confidence in games at that time so he settled in on doing everything else to help the team win games it worked.
He shot shots in warmups but never in games why warmups he got into a good rhythm shooting it form was fine but in games there were not many shots to go around when u had 2 shooters shooting most of the shots not a negative thing but it’s true and don’t get me wrong they both shot the ball well so everybody settled into there roles to win games and Nojel decided that as of now I’ll run the offense put my teammates like those shooters in position to knock down shots and I’ll rebound defend and get his points in other ways and look how it all turned out almost got to a final 4.
Now those players are gone the focus returns about his shooting are there concerns I guess many will think so but there are more opportunities now to shoot the ball this season as well as doing other things offensively.
He’ll have more opportunities to score the ball bcuz now he will need too to help this team win games. All I can say Nojel has been putting in an enormous I mean enormous amount of work working on every shooting scenario on the court in game speed as u can imagine and he looks good as well working on finishing at the basket better his floaters post moves etc he’s working on every aspect of his game to be ready this coming season to put this team on his shoulders iif he has too to help put this team in position to go even further than an elite 8 big goals not impossible either.
He lacked confidence was his main issue he found that now and his shooting stroke looks dam good however he won’t appease the media or fans to do what everybody wants him to do he’ll do what’s best for the team to help win games as he always had however he will take shots when he’s open this season that will happen bcuz he’s more confident in his shot now he’s getting in shooting rhythm more now in 5 on5 with defense on him he’s shooting the ball gotta mix it up to get him back comfortable taking shots in game action and it looks good.
If some some have never ever faced adversity in ur lives when things don’t go as plan it can have effect u mentally and some deal with situations differently my son went through his own adversity and challenges he fought through the scrutiny he got for 2 years about this very topic and he made it through.
None of you knows what these athletes go through day to day and yet some scrutinize them when there down they are human being with human emotions and feelings and as much as they all try to do there best for u the fans sometimes that isn’t enough but the show must go on and it did..
Today I see a person who went through some tough things and challenges and found his identity back and that guy is ready to face everything that comes with playing on this stage. I know the concerns he faces Nojel knows the concerns others have why he is putting in that work to put a silence to those concerns come this season. What I see from my son is a kid happy having fun now no added pressure not worrying anymore what others think but being true to himself and his teammates is his focus. He found his passion and love for this game and why he play basketball that guy is back and it has been a joy seeing him back to being him again for sure. I’ll end it here he ready I hope y’all gonna be ready for what’s coming.

You definitely gonna see some of this from him but I see a few others on this team doing that too

No doubt, Ms. Reed......looking forward to another heck of a season, and October can't come soon enough. Enjoy your summer.
Love this kid. He’s team first. I really hope he can show off an outside shot this year. It will make this team so much better. And it will enhance his chances at a pro career.

@JohnnyDoeBoiler would you like some assistance in removing trolls like Boilersnake whatever his name is? The hours that I’m on here may differ from yours and I would like to support positive contributions such as those desired by Treed and most of this forum
Tossing true trolls is always ok with me, but I would hate to see the excisement of comments just because they are questioning and non-laudatory. It can be a pretty fine line that I think mods do pretty well in recognizing for the most part. Good job.

I usually spend a decent amount of time every evening after my boys go to bed skimming through to make sure things are ok. I’ll check throughout the day as well. Emailing me at PurdueWilkie@yahoo.com or sending a tweet to @PurdueWilkie is the fastest way to get my attention most days.
