Having just quickly browsed the board after the game, it appears that there are a ton of threads about Painter. Here's my two cents. Every game is not an indictment on Painter's coaching ability or lack thereof. I don't think Painter is coaching guys to make dumb plays or coached the team to lay an egg on the glass tonight.

With that said, it's becoming clearer that the Painter era may be coming to an end sooner rather than later. This is almost certainly going to be the third straight year without an NCAA berth. Pretty tough to justify a tenth year coach missing 3 straight Tournaments. Even if you subscribe to the "this is a young team" idea and you like the potential, how many can really say next year is going to be leaps and bounds better?

Going into the year, I felt like I could be patient and watch this young team grow. However, after what I've seen the last two months shows that this roster is flawed in a big way. Without the fortunate turn of events that landed us Octeus, where would we be this year?? Unless we get a magic transfer for next year, PG looks frightening for next year. In short, the future looks bleak.

It obviously would be great for Purdue if Painter somehow can turn this around, but this looks bleak. I hope I'm wrong, about it, but it seems like we're watching a ship sink slowly under the water.
