and give him all the tools and money to hire a top flight staff and recruiter the Athletic Department starts fixing the little things like our school colors, the new Boilermaker Special, the cannon and the football traditions that slowly were stripped away from Ross-Ade! No disrespect to Tiller but be never had much luck with his uniforms and color changes once he got away from the Washington Redskins style that looked rather cool for their time!

Don't you guys understand the only thing it takes to get highly ranked recruits and fill the seats is lights, wifi, gimmicky unis, and beer. Tradition be damned.

start using our home based airport for recruiting. If you are going to bring in kids from out of state. It looks better for the school to be a few minutes away than one hour drive deep into cornfields. It's time we use our advantage to our advantage. Fight the NCAA on that stuff.

We have both an airport and Professional Flight Instructors. Time to setup Charter Flights for the new coach. The flight students get a Pro Flight Instructor working with them, Purdue gets a Charter flight to pick up key Alum paying passengers + recruit, Purdue wins, Football wins. If a coach like Harbaugh can get into the gray area and not get slapped too much, so should we. Has anyone looked into how University of North Dakota gets their recruits up to their location? They also happen to have an Aviation Professional Pilot program. A lot of players attend from far away locations. I wonder how that happens? http://www.undsports.com/SportSelect.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=13500&SPID=6399&SPSID=58641&DB_OEM_ID=13500

The fix is easy....just designate a runway as not "On campus" and you are good to go. Maybe buy up some land adjacent, build a runway and gift it to the city. Boom....its no longer "on campus"

I still don't understand how they took that lying down. How long did it take for the NCAA to change its ruling on satellite camps, 1 or 2 days?
Kinda hard to campaign against the arms race one day and then present a case for flying in recruits the next.

Grand Forks, ND has a commercial airport.

The only thing that could help on the aviation front would be regular RJ service to a commercial hub like Chicago or Detroit. If it goes down the path of charter flights, virtually every college campus has an airport nearby, and the Purdue jet will inevitably seem like a jalopy compared to others'.

set up a weekly flight to chicago/detroit then.

I would be all for Purdue being able to use that to their advantage again and fighting the NCAA on that issue. I think Purdue and probably 2-3 other schools in the entire country are affected by that rule. It is a stupid one and one that really hurts Purdue.

That's a bs argument. It's not as if Purdue bought a plane and built an airport as a recruiting tool.
I agree but not sure our illustrious AD Emeritus would. Hopefully MB2 has a little more risk tolerance and a little less distaste for the arms race.
