My 2 cents on Blough and Sindelar

The only thing that I would pin on the previous regime with regards to Blough is probably trying to do too much because of how awful we were in all facets of the game. But if he's going to win this staff over and prove he can lead this team, he has to take care of the ball and trust his other teammates to get the job done. It's one thing to take bad risks because of a sense of urgency, but it's another because you weren't conscious enough to make the smart play based on what you saw.

He has to realize he no longer has to be superman to give us a chance to win. He doesn't have to be aggressive chasing chances. He should focus on just doing his bit well. Take what he is given, throw it away when nothing is there, and leave to fight another down.

Sindelar has a HUGE arm. On a lot of the drops, he really rifled it in there. The receivers should have definitely caught the passes that hit them on the hands or between the numbers, but Sindelar might be better served to take some heat off of the throws that he can.

But man, does he have a rocket.

Reminds me a little of Phipps.

Brohm will do what he thinks is best and I am betting he will go with the hot hand for awhile. He sure chewed the QB on his pick six so I would not necessarily agree that a receiver ran the wrong way on a scramble. FWIW, Blough, the more experienced QB, still has his interception problem and the ratio of TD to INT has to improve a lot. While our other QB saw his first significant reps with the first team in a game against a good, quick defense. Both have the mentioned strengths and weaknesses, both had drops, both looked good and bad at times....my guess is we will see the same rotation on Friday night due to the short prep week!

As predicted he did exactly what I expected and both QB's did exactly what they needed to, Sindelar had the misfortune to have way too many balls dropped early otherwise the Boilers would have been up 21-0 in a hurry...it happens sometimes. I love the way he steps up in the pocket and fires the ball downfield! Made the switch when it was needed and Blough responded...he had the opportunities and came through and made good decisions. His one scramble near the goal usually resulted in a pick but he was smart to get rid of the ball rather than trying to force something in a play breaking down...kudos to him as that one play probably kept him in the game and he made the most of it! We even got to show our wildcat QB to have future opponents take valuable practice time to prepare for something they might not see!

I expect another week of silence on who will start against Mizzu but it doesn't really matter as I would expect to see both or maybe all three play again. Great job by the Boilers and the coaches last night! Thought the broadcast team also did a great job of promoting Purdue, the FB team and the facilities all night...kudos to them!
