Eh, this is the world now. Gotta be able to deal with it. It's not 1980 anymore.
Painter spends way too much time complaining about the fan base. Why is he even thinking about it? Why are you talking about Twitter?
Come on. And realize it ain't changing. Twitter ain't changing. People aren't going to cheer you on no matter what especially when players are paid millions in some cases.
What is always concerning to me is when media, national, B1G and local, start to publicize and anoint this person or that person onto all national or conference teams, or leading POTY individuals, halfway through a season. All that does, is bring on way too much pressure to live up to those accolades onto those players, but more-so, creates motivation to other players and their coaches, to single out game plans for and against them.
Our guys have been praised by the various media outlets much of this season, up until the last couple of weeks. To me, it is not the fans feeding this beast, but no question us fans eat it up and get convinced to believe it, sometimes against our more realistic judgement.
So now, when the schedule gets a bit tougher and we do not shine as bright as prior or as we now expect of the team, sure us fans can be fanatical. Because we have seen and been convinced how good they are and can be.
I look at MSU this season. No talk about any of their players making this team or that team much of this season, but here they are, playing their best basketball in late February.
Because the media, not the fans, have not built their players up to be all world players.
Now, maybe their coach is.

It’s pretty easy to make the choice to stay off of social media during the season. Any normal fan base will say “WTF” when you have more TOs than points deep into the second half.
He was asked about IU’s coaching situation and he said that, he was not talking about u.
Well since I don't shit post on Twitter I know he wasn't talking about me. Doesn't change a thing I said.
Well, Twitter isn't going to turn into sunshine and puppies. So it's the reality they have to figure out.

He was primarily talking about IU. Whether players can handle it or not, there’s no excuse for adults acting like petulant children or straight up assholes.

Yet, you say this to the media. I understand it's his job, but in today's world fans/paying ticket holders want a better product. He knows this is just a part of the job. If a fan wants to describe our play of late by all means it's the same right as a paid coach. Just as IU fans can boo Woodson's coaching ability. It goes both ways now that NIL has made it a more "professional" outlook. If you are willing to be a paid employee it becomes a part of the equation.
I find going to social media to complain about the fan base just as bad, especially now when here soon you will again be asking them to pony up to play players.
If you can’t handle it, stay off social media.
But there will always be that pathetic segment of society. Like some of the losers on this message board who cry after every loss, or call our players “dog shit”.
Consider the source, or don’t read it at all.
Probably calling players "dog shit" vs. they are playing lazy or need better PG play should be looked at totally different. I don't believe we have any players that are "dog shit". IMO

There's consequences in every position. If you get paid it goes hand-in-hand. Players want to determine their pay/NIL value. Well, those same players should be held accountable for their production. Just as an employee working for a company....standards.
Unfortunately, it's the game in today's world and it's not changing.
Well, I know some of these Federal positions were 'tell me your worth' and/or we will reconsider if your job is safe. Some of these were quickly kept, some under review and some were let go. If your job has substance then you will more than likely be kept.
It's like our local budget. We are going to implement a zero budget vs a carry-over requested budget. Personally, this will hold some local offices accountable for essential spending vs. discretionary spending.

Yes, there used to be a social media blackout during the season, but that hasn't happened in a while and with NIL, it's now impossible to do as social media is often tied to the payments.
I'm sure if I was doing it today someone would tweet about it whether I was shitty or not.
I hear about it all the time, I remain fairly anonymous online, but I definitely read plenty of bitching about my work.
Probably will read a whole lot more here in a few months. Of course, I am also a twisted individual and seek out social media groups and message boards to read the bitching and laugh at most of it.
Exactly... these kids are also getting paid now also. Can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.
