Michigan State vs. Purdue: MASTER DISCUSSION THREAD

This game is a lot like some of our tourney missteps except for the addition of Jones giving us that extra boost on both ends of the court.

Loyer and Smith need to play a lot better second half.

MSU is going to hit some shots in the second half. We need to respond in kind.

You see the difference Smith makes running the show - Jones did a great job but Smith is just a difference maker on almost every possession. I guess having him out gave Colvin some quality minutes which could be huge going forward.

Not great officiating. Colvin with good minutes. Need to take and hit a few 3s. Edey being Edey, Fletch needs to be Fletch.

if it wasn't Jones we'd be losing this game, he also drew 3 or 4 charge calls

Good half for Purdue. Got to see Purdue survive without Braden . Myles got minutes. Being up 7 at half with Braden. On the bench is a plus. Got to hit some shots. Fletch struggling drIving the ball.

IF the Boilers survive it, probably a good thing to play with some adversity of having Smith out. Colvin getting extended minutes and 5 points is nice to see too. Yeah - not sure what Fletch is seeing, but two or three times he dribbled into danger.

Actually disagree here. Smith was overwhelmed physically. Teams with athletic perimeter players do that to him. Can’t do it to Jones. He ran the point well. And he can defend athletic perimeter players without fouling unlike Smith.

So whoever gets their buts in gear and scores 43+ will win this game.

Credit the D in the first half. But someones going to get going in H2. Hope it's Purdue.
I'm hoping Braden's lack of scoring can be attributed to foul trouble. Fletch is hit or miss if he shows up. Braden is kinda the straw that stirs the drink, so if he picks it up next half, hopefully we won't have FDU flashbacks.

I know we didn't play well the last MSU game either, but at home, we were up 38-35 at half, and won 80-74. Being up 7 on a neutral, considering the way we shot the ball, isn't terrible.

Shooting concerns will continue to haunt everyone until Purdue finishes the season, regardless if it's the first weekend or final game

Only 4 turnovers and 2 were by Fletcher in the lane. Need him to pull up or stay on the 3 point line.

Jones was telling Green he got hit on that last shot
Lance has been great. Made a mental mistake when he jumped on the player (Hall?) on the court. Nobody going to score there and clock running down? Allowed points at the FT line, but overall he has been great. Have to hit Fts here on out and get in bonus early or it is hack a Zach inside. Braden needs to find his shot. Purdue needs the O to get going so that MSU is not pushing the ball so much

Loyer needs to stop driving. Can’t get his outside shot off. Be a decoy rather than a turnover.

Our defensive rebounding is going to give me a heart attack ack ack.

Its shocking to me that as good as edey is he still hasnt developed a drop step spin to the other side and jam it.. that foul drawn right there he had a 100% free drop step spin left dunk because the defender was totally 100% playing his right. It also spins away from the double team.

See how this game plays out: Some positives and some huge red flags.
Not the least of which is style of play. Compare how Purdue is playing now in terms of tempo and attacking versus the first month of the year when they plowed through several top 10 teams

was watching a stream on youtube and its sooooo far behind espn and this board that I can't even watch it, not to mention the annoying box in the middle
