With OSU loss this is biggest game of year. We will be 3-1/2 to 4 pt favs , but I am very concerned that this is our worst matchup in Big 10. They are biggest team, with 2 talented 7 footers with one of them who plays like Braden. Not sure how Furst and TKR shuts this down. They run PNR with these 2 bigs only often . Wolfe is an amazing playmaker for a 7 footer. Typically I always love Painter the game after a loss, but just don’t think we match up here, others thoughts?

Complete hyperbole to say that Wolf plays like Braden but I am concerned about this game, particularly given how Purdue looked in the second half against OSU.

If this game were at Meatchicken I'd be more worried.. Personally I think the team got complacent with the lead against OSU and it came back to bite them... I don't see that happening against UM.

UM is a big and good team, but we also are a very good team and it's at home .. so I like our chances to win this by 6.

I agree with the bit of complacency + basically an NBA schedule that week. Let's get by Michigan then enjoy a whole week off

Tough game with the two bigs, athleticism and some good guards with size. Big game as well. If Purdue loses, the race for the BIG would be in Michigan. Purdue needs a couple of things to happen to win, 1. Shoot at least 35% from three, 2. keep Furst and TK out of foul trouble and 3. keep turnovers within reason. It would be nice to get one and of their bigs in foul trouble.

I’d add, take 15-18 3’s.

We have to take 3s and get that action moving early. I think we have to run offense around getting Wolf and Golden into mismatches putting them into defensive disadvantages which means driving to the hoop for Loyer, Braden and Cox etc.

Does Purdue perimeter beat Michigan's inside game and how does Trey do in the short roll or at the rim? A concern for me is the automatic switching on 1-4 where too many times a Giccari, CJ and Braden are on a big that heads to the rim. It has NOT hurt Purdue near as much as it could have for whatever reasons, but that is a concern! I am unaware of Michigan's three ball, but if Purdue can go under screens then there will be less switching. I think Caleb is good enough on the perimeter to make it more difficult for Wolf to get in the lane off the dribble and front enough to hinder the high low. Cam giving up a few inches "should" be able to do this as well...and if Cam can stroke it, that takes away some help on Trey inside and so Purdue could use one of the better games from Cam. I look for them to take the ball against Trey, because if Purdue sits him due to fouls...Purdue most likely loses an inside threat and then the only hope is that small ball is hitting behind the arc.

FWIW, I watched Myles stroking it before and half time of the game and it sure looks like he jumps higher than he practices on his shot. I'm not close enough to the court to know for certain, but his warmup looks like an easy 4 inch jump or such where he appears to be balanced and more relaxed...somewhat similar to Jay Edwards who Knight said was a lazy shooter, but we all know could stroke it in a game

It also needs at least one of Colvin or Heide to do something more than they've been doing.

We can't have both of them disappear.

It seems to me anecdotally that more players are putting up "tough" 2 point shots this year on many teams. I contribute that to being ran off the 3 point line and not getting to the rim as much as a team would like and sometimes further compounded by the clock dictating that they must try to score NOW. I would love to see Purdue shooting well behind the arc AND getting open enough to actually do so. This is one of those times you would love a 4 man that could stroke it AND drive the ball, but I'll be happy if the four man can just stroke it.

Berg is getting 0 playing time. If played, I hope he has the best game of his life and can play physical without picking up fouls...and produce that three point shooting in video...

Slow down their bigs and run their guards off the three line. Force them to turn the ball over and hit our threes.

Simple right?
