One of their players (Russell) got a bit too mouthy/demonstrative with the refs...

Welp....as poorly as Purdue played on offense, up 26-23 is probably a bonus. Better get some urgency fired up.....and in a hurry.
They should need new paint in the locker rooms because I would guess CMP is going to give them an earful and then some. And this was with Ayala out as well.

They should be kicking Maryland’s butt. Looking flat and uninspired. Maryland is way down this year.

Purdue 108th in the country on defense. That does not get you to the final four. I’m a believer in having an offensive team, but you still got to be somewhat decent on defense.
Boilers are playing as if they are mentally and physically exhausted, which exacerbates their ineptitude on defense.
I have cruised in mellow mode all this year, but I am losing it today ....
They are playing like they think Maryland is supposed to roll over for them.

another year of college ball would do him wonders, but of course that will never happen.
After today’s game, we only have 3 games across the next 13 days. Hopefully the days off will help to get this team reenergized.

When mixed right, the formula works to perfection and seems magical. But, to your point, get it off, and it can be a disaster. Less of a margin for error when you can't consistently stop the other team when you need to.
Yes, we are talented, but there are teams all over the college basketball scene with more talent. We get a guy ranked at 50 and think we won the lottery. Well players ranked 49-1 are out there on other teams. You can argue that Painter does a good job evaluating talent, but there are still more talented players out there than those in black and gold.
On cue...and-one for Maryland.....Boilers might do me in today. 
Sigh. Im seeing a lot of the exact same issues from past teams that lose in the 1st or 2nd round of the ncaa tourney.

This team is just maddening......come out and immediately give up eight straight with a couple of sloppy turnovers thrown in for good measure. Goodness gracious.

If we lose this one, I’m really lowering my post season expectations.
This is not about lack of physical talent, it's about lack of mental and emotional toughness. Yes, we have played a lot of games in the past 10 days, but that's where the mental part comes in.
This is the absolute worst Purdue team I have seen defensively in years. They are pathetic at guarding the perimeter. Rutgers will destroy Purdue if they defend like this.
I sure hope the settle the baseball lock out in the next couple of days. If something doesn’t change around quickly in this game, this coming week is looking to be awful. Let’s go Boilers!!
